Actually, answer to second one is yes. You'll have to look through the hex editing threads on ProStreet, because I no longer remember how to do it.
And answer to first one is a partial yes. The car color can be changed to black. It just doesn't have the color palette that other cars do.

Re: [HELP]MW Hex Editing
Most of us who used to handle these kinds of requests back in the day no longer frequent this site anymore. I myself only drop by about once a month - I just don't have the time anymore. Zeromant, please make sure you back up your savegames before editing. Once you edit and make a mistake, often tim...

It could also be a motherboard issue, which is why I would try it in an entirely different system if possible. But it does sound like it quit on you. Since it is a relatively old tuner, maybe you overstressed it by watching HD programming?

Re: Car Customization Based By Driving? (-___-)
This would make sense if races and parts were organized in stages like in ProStreet. While you're completing a certain stage, driving a certain way unlocks those particular parts for that particular stage. Then when you progress to the next stage, all the parts from the previous stage get unlocked (...

Re: SHIFT Driver Profile
This sucks. Now I actually have to accomplish goals other than racing? If I'm understanding correctly, you can place first but still not win because you didn't drive aggressively enough, or didn't take enough corners cleanly, etc. WTF is that? How is that targeting the hardcore and simulation racers...

Might be. Usually when I have hardware issues such as this, I try one of two things: booting from Linux and seeing if the hardware works, or trying it in a different computer. What you could do is go into Device Manager and check Show Hidden Devices under the View menu. Uninstall any devices related...

Don't just look at Adobe services. Look at Microsoft services as well, Vista is notorius for turning even unnecessary services on at startup.

I've never used system managed, but since it modifies the size of the page file as needed, I would assume that would lead to a fragmented page file as the hard drive started to fill up. But it's wierd that it's occurring on a barely full hard drive. Like I said, take a look at startup processes. Ano...

I have my page file set to 2GB, which is the amount of RAM I have. I think if you have in excess of 2GB of physical RAM, you really don't need to have more than a 1 or 2GB page file. But in the end it'll depend on what you do. If you run programs that frequently use up the 16GB, then you might need ...

How is it that the forum members predicted this? If we have an insider, I'd like to know!

Turn off unnecessary services in Services.msc All my Vista installations had most services set to Auto upon initial install. I've turned off unnecessary ones and set non-essential ones to Manual Start. This speeds up the boot time quite a bit. Also since you mention you have CS4 Master Collection, r...

So the LAN port is completely dead. I don't know what happened to it, but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything else. The back USB's came back online after I discovered a mis-set jumper and work flawlessly now. The computer's been on for three days straight with no side effects (other than no int...

Re: Movies discussion
I saw Star Trek again today. The little scientific errors aside, I was totally amazed by it. The acting was amazing, and it was actually a well thought out way to re-introduce the series while retaining the ability to make creative changes as necessary. Also saw Angels and Demons. EPIC. Better than ...

No lights, never did light up at boot though. Wouldn't light till after POST, and by then I'm assuming Windows has already taken over.
I haven't been back home yet for a few days, so haven't been able to try any suggestions or see if the thing works now or has completely died.

Re: Need for Speed SHIFT @E3
It's always hard to tell how the physics system will feel like from just a few gameplay videos. Don't forget that Shift is supposed to have a simulation and an arcade mode. The difference between the two may account for discrepancies in the car handling. The cars could also have been tuned to lack g...

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
It's definitely not the hype that was created. That said, I loved ProStreet (my favorite of the recent-gen behind Most Wanted). I love some of the concepts that they're introducing in Shift, and will probably play it even if it lacks the true simulation mode that was bragged about so much. I mean, o...

Odd indeed. Failed back connectors usually does mean a soon completely dead board. You could try resetting the board BIOS to factory defaults, maybe it got a bit of static during cleaning... (not likely though). DAMMIT! I don't have the money to spend on another board, I just restored a computer th...

Anyone else having flashbacks to Porsche Unleashed and Factory Driver missions? Similar concept: you complete a race with a set goal, and you unlock stuff. This has the potential to be a disaster, but sounds like a rather enjoyable concept if executed correctly.
