Nismo and Mugen are more like Brabus and AC Schnitzer than they are AMG or M-Tech; they only operate through a handfull of dealers, produce limited numbers of cars rather than in long production runs, and tend to fettle production cars rather than scratch-building them like Quattro GMBH, M-Tech and AMG, all of whom have their own full production runs and build cars on existing chassis from scratch rather than modifying ones part-way through production. Also, Honda already has its "Type R" in-house tuning division.

No, Nismo is in-house. Autech is more like AC Schnitzer and Brabus :D

Actually, Nissan doesn't really have any parallel to Brabus. Autech is pretty close, but it's also somewhat like AMG (when it's active anymore). MINE'S is pretty close, seeing as it is a separate company, but Nissan owns no part in it and it tunes different makes of cars. Then again, I'm pretty sure Brabus is the same way.

Are "Nismo" cars sold at all Nissan dealerships (like M-Tech, Quattro GMBH and AMG cars)? I don't think they are, so "official" external tuner (like Alpina) they must be.

The only Nismo car available in the US commercially is the Nismo Z and the rest have a Nismo package. Now in other parts of the world Nismo has their own dealership.

Almost identical to the way Alpina operates.

The BMW M5 is a good car but for some reason I find the current model rather dull, it doesn't have a very sporty look.
Where a RS6 does, Audi managed to build a car that looks classy and still looks like it can kick your *ss any time it wants to. The M5 looks like a 5 series with a M package.
If given a choice I'll take the E39 M5 over the new one, Just like the styling more, even though it's not much different then a normal 5 series, it does look more aggressive.

I have been looking at a E39 M5 and they are not that expensive any more (if I import them from Germany myself)
But the roadtax and insurance is pretty high, but still tempting.

Meh. The Evo isn't really in the same class as the others. It's not that usable, or that comfortable. Sure, it's a great fast car but in terms of being a brilliant all-rounder it's way behind the others (Evo X excepted, which is rather let down by the fact it looks like a Renault Laguna)

Not to mention the build qualitiy is not even close to being in the same league as the Benz, BMW and Audi.
