Personally speaking my pick would be the STi. Correct me if I'm wrong but time and time again the STi has been faster than the Evo (including current-gen, as proven by Top Gear, albiet not by much), and once again speaking on the terms of no modifications I'd take the STi for performance, but in terms of aesthetics it depends on what generation. I absolutely love the look of the Evolution IX but in terms of new-age neither of them look very pleasing to the eye. The Evo's front looks like someone chopped off its nose, and the STi's rear just looks ghastly. That said though I do prefer the STi's looks to the Evo X's. The two things that make me choose Scooby over Evo are a) the Boxer burble, and b) that they run in the family. I will most likely own a Scooby at some stage in my life (or at least I desperately hope).

From the blue side: 2007 STi S204, or 2009 STi 330S
From the red side: Evo IX FQ400 or Evo X MR Edition.

I'm a bit on the fence - both are pretty great - but I'll have to pick the WRX STI. The Evo is heavier, although it looks a lot better. Tail-lights are ugly, but tinting them or doing something else to them is easier than removing 500lbs comfortably

I really do like the Evo, though, but the weight kills it - it sort of doesn't fit with the entire spirit of the Evo lineage.

The Evo X has my pick. Simply because I hate hatchbacks, and the Evo has slightly more appealing body work than the STi does. The current STi's are easily dismissed as hatchbacks these days to the untrained eyes.

The Evo X looks like a Renault Laguna with a nose job. It's f**king ugly. The STi is growing on me, having seen a few of them on the road.

Still, Evo VIII FQ400 please, even if I have to have it serviced every 5000 miles. Or An '07 WRX RB320.

MMMM EVO VIII MR FQ400 =P~

I recently seen one on the UK autotrader for 22K Pound, I was like.... hmm how much would I fetch for the Type-R, luckily the pound is pretty low these days and the civic is still pretty solid in terms of resale price, but then I thought I didn't have 10K lying around, and that is not included the import tax which would not be very cheap, and then to insure it.... I don't think that will be a cheap deal
Not mentioning the running costs.... but the idea of a 400HP saloon is pretty tempting

I see about 1 Evo for every 15-20 STi's that I see. Therefore, I like the Evo better since its more rare around where I live.

Yes, Evos are more rare, but the STi is still better to me.

Well...

I've always been a firm Evo supporter, but the current-gen models (IMO) leave a lot to be desired. I reckon if they moved the NEW Evo's drivetrain to the IX is would be pretty cool. Still, for now I still prefer the EvoX over the STi

Oh, and remind me...

What does QFT mean again?

The EVO X looks like a big family sedan.

New cars suck imo. To environment friendly.

You can't really compare two re-designed cars based off two previous designs. :?

They have more of what he didn't like in the previous models - I'd say that's a pretty good reason not to like them.

QFT. Electronic interference spoils the driving feel of cars, and Japanese cars seem to suffer with it far worse than European cars. With the exception of the MX5 (of which I've driven every generation at various times) most modern Japanese performance cars I've been behind the wheel of have either been pretty dull (2nd-gen + facelifted Impreza WRX, 350Z) or very hit-and-miss (Evo IX FQ320, Honda S2000).

IMO, any car with electronic aids or power steering or even airbags is not a proper drivers car. Going fast is nice, but a real car makes it feel like every ripple and bump in the road is injecting adrenaline straight into your bloodstream.

Of course both of these buzzboxes (Evo/STi) can be made into "real cars" with a bit of work, and if I had to choose I'd take an Evo since I see a lot more fast Evos than STis hitting the track. Plus the WRX hatchback is fugly.

I like them both, but I'd take the EVO. It looks better.

A white wingless EVO X MR with matte black, 5-spoke rims. I've seen one around my area, and man... the exhaust note on that thing is just pure music.
