First, welcome to the forum. :D

As far as I know, NFS:HP (NFS3) was the first game where you could add new cars/tracks to the game, so I don't think it's possible to download new cars for NFS2:SE.

Playing old games on new computers can be tricky, since the computers these days are simply too good for the old games. There might be patches for NFS2 tho, but playing a game that old probably won't be too easy. I've never tried to play anything older than NFS:Porsche on WinXP tho, so I can't say anything for sure. It might be possible to run the game in compatibility mode for Windows 95/98, but I have my doubts :(

I don't think playing NFS2 online is possible, for 2 reasons:
1: Online gaming in 1997 wasn't a big thing, since the internet hadn't really kicked off yet (which could be why downloading new cars wasn't an option). The only possibility is playing on a LAN.
2: EA servers don't stay up more than a few years, so even if there were NFS2 servers, they would be closed a long time ago.

Maybe someone else knows ways to play the game tho, but I'm afraid I can't help you there... :(

Thanks For Welcome!
thats very Bad that this game is now Dead!
about cars! >>>> I wrote that because once I was exploring this forum
and I entered link from this forum and there were hundreds of cars For NFS2SE!!!
Mitsubishi Eclipse 97, Opel Vectra, Mazda RX8, RX7...
but, I Changed computer after That and link was deleted :(
Now I could not find that link in this forum (Because this forum is BIG)

Yeah, I think it's sad that classic games like that are abandoned... A patch now and then could keep the games alive for a long time... But I guess EA has enough to do when it comes to making the next games, and they probably don't have time for the older games. It's sad, but that's how the business world is, I guess...

Well, if there were cars for NFS2:SE, then I was wrong about downloading cars. Couldn't find anything when searching, so maybe the link was in a deleted thread... Or I just searched for the wrong things... But if anyone else knows about it, let's hope they post it here :)

you can play nfs2se in winxp, i got it working by
copying "nfs2sea.exe" to the game folder
adding a compatibility patch using Microsoft Compatibility Administrator
download dgVoodoo
extract glide2x.dll, and dgVoodooSetup.exe to your Need For Speed 2 SE game folder
try different settings in dgVoodoo until it works

Not too much. In fact, there's a dude on eBay selling NFS2:SE, NFS:HP, NFS:HS, NFS:PU and NFS:HP2 for $2.99....

I've never used eBay tho, so I don't know how serious it is, but you could check it out... :) No manuals tho...

I've bought several older NFS games on a Norwegian auction site (QXL.no), and it has worked well for me... The games are probably used, but they seem fine to me... :)

I have a demo on my PC, which has XP...it works fine, dunno if I put a compatability mode thingy on it or not.

Do the custom cars work on the demo?

Old thread, but I just installed NFS2SE on XP after various kludges with the App Compatibility Toolkit. Even so, areas of the screen would go randomly black until I clicked the mouse or pressed a key. Anyone had better luck?
