Mine or arabnights? Mine is dual-xeon, arabnights says it´s a P4. Looks a bit overkill for a P4 though, unless overclocked.

4.3 O_o Okay, that's not too bad then. But 9800GT and 4g RAM... My 3.2ghz bottlenecked my 7600GT in Prostreet.

I think he means, a P4 is not powerful enough to get all the potential out of a 7600GT, not to mention a 9800GT. The same card with a newer cpu would perform much better.

As far as more overclocking goes, the other components start to restrict you even more. That is, you'd need high quality ram that would also run at higher bus speeds (and cooling for those). Better cooling for the motherboard chipset (to make it tolerate higher bus speeds and voltages) and so forth.

Yeah, in CPU intensive games, minimum graphics setting and medium settings achieved the same frame rate... of 15, lol. It was the CPU that didn't keep up.

Man, I wish I'd gotten in here sooner, I was about to help that guy with some crazy OC.

Although, with all seriousness, let me tell you: Don't spend loads of money and put one crappy component in... it'll ruin the entire computer. I'm running a C2Q with a 7600GT due to low funds, so I know what I'm talking about.

Back.

HTPC:
Chieftech case, AMD PHENOM X4 9850BE, 4GB, 3x250GB (RAID-5), Integrated digital audio + HDCP graphics (more details in system-specs thread)

Display:
Toshiba REGZA 42" LCD 42X3030DG FullHD

Audio:
Sony STR-DA1200ES 7.1 channel AV-receiver
http://www.hi-fi-insight.com/sony-str-d ... eiver.html

Sound system:
Wharfedale Diamond 9 series
http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/range.php?range_id=3

2x Diamond 9.5 main speakers http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/model.php?m ... &finish=42
1x Diamond 9.CC center speaker http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/model.php?m ... &finish=42
2x Diamond 9.1 surround speakers http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/model.php?m ... &finish=42 (not in picture, obviously)

In a 5.1 setup, though the subwoofer signal is routed to the main speakers since they can produce low frequencies well enough to not need a separate woofer (they go down to 30Hz/-6dB).

Got fed up with my last computer, so I gots me an all new one:

Case: Cooler Master Elite RC-330-KKR1 Black
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 700W ATX12V / EPS12V
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H 790GX
CPU: AMD Phenom 9950 Agena 2.6GHz Quad Core
RAM: OCZ 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 1066
Graphics: EVGA NVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB 256-bit
Optical Drives: 2x Lite-On CD/DVD-R/W
Disk Drives: WD 160GB 7200RPM SATA, WD 1TB 7200RPM SATA

Probably not an amazing setup, but I can play Halo at a constant 200 FPS.

Is niec, niec.
Better than mine graphics-wise. And Halo is pretty non-graphics-intensive. Give us some epick game benchmarks.

pl0x? I was just wondering how the 9800GT performed with a similar setup to mine.

The most graphics-intensive game I have is CoD4, which runs ~60 FPS, on average, with all settings maxed at 1280x1024. And Halo may not be graphics-intensive, but it still looks pretty damn nice for being, what, 8 years old, now. The textures are surprisingly high quality. o:

Really? Why was I thinking it was '01? :B

Edit:
Actually, I'm reading that it was released September of '03. So, it's not quite 6 years old. Still pretty good, if you ask me.

New toy...

This poor baby is in serious need of some repairs... looks like she's been really abused. I can't stand to see a bunch of rich kids abuse nice things like this just because their parents all bought it for them. Oh well.

Picked it up off a kid at school for $170. He originally wanted $300. Yay for haggling! \o/

The funny part is, the kid had a two-year warranty and didn't know it. So while he could've sent it back to Dell to be repaired, he sold it to me, under contract. (I learned to make contracts when dealing with anything of value.) So I got a ~$2,000 laptop for under $200. Looking at about $500 if Dell doesn't cover repairs. From the looks of it, it may have the following specs:

No idea on CPU - Core 2 Duo something (Probably 2.2Ghz)
2GB Dell DDR2
250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
256MB nVidia 8600GT-m
Slot-loading DVD-RW Drive
Intel (Wireless-N?) Integrated Wi-Fi Adapter
Sprint Mobile Broadband Adapter
Integrated Bluetooth adapter (It may or may not actually have it, dude said it did, though.)
Built-in Fingerprint Reader
15.4" HD High-Gloss Screen (Not sure about resolution)

Anyway, it seems there's no video, the cooling fan doesn't seem to be spinning, there may or may not be a CD in the bay, but either way it won't eject. He must've also left it plugged in while it was out-of-commission, because the battery appears to be shot.

Still, it was only $170. At the very least I could take the CPU out and put it in my Inspiron, and it still would've been money well-spent, as most C2Ds I've seen go for 300-upward.
