first, you have to be 18 to vote. second felons are convicted felons may not vote. you have to actually register (you can't just go in the voting station with a driver's license and expect to vote)
on to voting:
alright, there is the popular vote (which counts how many votes a canidate has) and a electoral college vote (which tallies up points according to different states the canidate won)
the electoral vote(the one by which we go by) is kinda tricky, some states are worth more points than others, New york > alabama. if by the end of the voting process a canidate has more electoral votes than any other canidate, they win the election. did you want to now how senators, govenors, mayors, district attourneys and all that jazz works read a american gov. book cuz it takes to long to explain and i'm lazy.

isn't it that each state represents a certain amount of points.
I don't know the exact point (or what they are called)
if you got 2 candidates and the one that has the most votes in a state gets the points for that state! (all points) so even if he has 51%)
for instance:
2 candidates: mr A. and Mr B.
New York: Mr A won he gets 10 points
California: Mr B won he gets 12 points
Alabama: Mr B won he gets 8 points
Florida: Mr A won he gets 7 points
so in the end:
Mr A got 17 points
Mr B got 20 points ---- Mr B is president!
am I right? correct me if I am wrong but this is what I understand out of the last election... it was live on TV here also

And the elector votes:
if there's Mr. A, Mr. B and Mr. C competing in a state that has 100elector votes and A gets 45%, B gets 40% and C gets 5%. How many electoral votes does each candidate get?
A 100 or, according to percentage they received on elections? Is it a nationwide rule for that or do some states have specific rules?

yea its basically like choosing which state, you can't split up points in a state, so i think the electoral college system suks, if you are a democrate in georgia you might as well not vote, and if you are a republican in ny the same applies, i rather the popular vote, gives everybody a fair chance you know.
the voting system is pretty useless... because of the reasons posted above.... it makes people not want to vote because they know it has no use to even try... :S (unless there is one candidate that everybody likes and the other is so terrible...
it would be better if they just counted all votes and add them later on all together...
cause with this system it could happen that that more people actually voted for Mr A then Mr B... but Mr B gets the nice house and a new office...
just because he got a few big states that he managed to get 51% and the other guy did get some smaller states and got like 80 %
the is all a example ofcourse!

I've always known that the college kids here are pretty much stupid. They all voted for Bush when we could've had a good President like Kerry. Did you know something? Bush wasn't supposed to win the reelection. Some of his minions made people vote for him. That is why I don't like that lame excuse for a President and a person.
