How are you taking the captures from Carbon? Camera mode? F12 button? Some external program?

That's because the EA website automatically changes the resolution to 640x480. Use the Prnt Scrn key to take a screenshot in the game and paste it into MSPaint.

So, Photo Mode and then key 1?

That, I believe, reduces the resulution of the capture quite a bit (in order to make the file smaller for upload to EA, not sure since I haven't even tried it myself). I myself use the F12 key, which creates a file called "nfscarbon001.jpg" (and so forth) in the game root folder. That for sure is full res; I'm using 1600x1200 for my captures. After that I crop and resize the image in Paint Shop and upload to nfsunlimited garage.

Hmm, I didn't know the F12 key still worked. I couldn't find any outputs from it last time I tried to use it.

Yeah, they changed it a bit from previous game. Most Wanted creates TGA files in "My Pictures" folder, Carbon instead creates JPG files in the game root folder. UG2 creates TGA files in the game root folder, UG1 I think doesn't have a capture key at all.

F12 key works anywhere in game. In the menus, during gameplay, or in the photo mode. Pictures are saved in the game root folder, for example C:\GAMES\Need for Speed Carbon. Depending on where you installed the game, of course.

For example:

This is taken in photo mode during game play using the F12 key: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/showroom/entry/15588

And this in the car build menus also using the F12 key: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/showroom/entry/24788
