Blackle
http://www.Blackle.com
Blackle is almost exactly the same as Google, but black and better! It saves energy by using a black background and thus uses infinitely less watt hours than the normal search engine, aka Google, does. You guys should use it from now on unless you want to use some features because Blackle doesn't have all the features as Google.

Re: Blackle
Hah? You just said it was your homepage
Re: Blackle
It is, but I still use Google to search.
Re: Blackle
too black, I don't like it .. Tuners rock, I bet he likes it.
Re: Blackle
That's complete BS.
1) colour of the screen doesn't impact power usage, in fact some screens waste more power when the screen is black.
2) blackle works much slower than normal google and doesn't have all features

Re: Blackle
The how many watt hours saved is dumb. It goes down at times if you refresh every 0.5 seconds.

Re: Blackle
I can see everything just fine. And at night, my eyes don't hurt from the bright colors.
Re: Blackle
I used to use colors like those. After a while they started hurting my eyes. I like sticking with normal colors.

Re: Blackle
There used to be a combined Yahoo and Google search engine within one page. It pretty much lets you see the search results' comparison, and how fast it takes.
No surprises, Google's results came out first before a few seconds later Yahoo's results came on.
It's called "Yagoohoogle". I'm not sure if the site still exists though, 'cuz I just tried going there but the page wasn't found.
This is what it looks like, in case anyone of you hasn't heard or seen it before:

If you really want to save energy and work on the enviroment etc.
Turn of your computer when you are not using it. saves alot more then using some kind of site etc.
I see alot of people that keep their PC running while they are sleeping, just sitting there doing nothing... or when they are away, and some of them are even stupid enough to look at sites like this and think... hey that sounds nice, I can help the enviroment with this....

Re: Blackle
I admit, I do leave my computer on... basically until it crashes from an overload. I've gone for,I think, a month once. (Doesn't surprise me I had to re-install WIndows Vista. But I don't just leave it on for hell of it, or to look at the pretty lights. ( ) I have alot of stuff running through my PC with the wireless network... the printer, music, most everything I do on my laptop, runs through my desktop.

Re: Blackle
I fail to see connection between search and power saving. Seriosly now, how would 0.1% saving help you even if your running some monster system with simply huge monitor. If you can afford it, few bucks wont make diff in your electricity bill.
