Jeez, you have expensive taste. A car like that is the same deal as the Soarer.
Nothing wrong with wanting a cool car, but there are a lot of things wrong with buying a car that you can't afford to keep.

If you are dead set on buying an import (for whatever reason) then first cut your 10k in half and go from there. Keep the other half for all the stuff that needs to be/will need to be fixed.

I don't know much about this stuff, but IMO you should stick with a car that's an official company import, not a privatly contracted import, or a limited-production run for Australia. Stick with something that has plenty of spare parts available, and one that you can find a good deal for easily.

What, a Bluebird? Oh, come on, that's nothing like a Soarer. Our old SSS had 384,000 on the clock and apart from the heads-up display, nothing was wrong. and plus of the 44 Bluebirds present on carsales, only 3 were actually above 10,000. And as for halving the 10k, yes at the moment I will, but this is for future reference, not a right-now jobbie. First I need a job that actually gives me hours.....

I'm sure there are a number of other cars can be dependable if they were taken care of just as well. The only reason why you might consider the SSS before them is because you've had first hand experience with it.

AE86 are very hard to find for cheap. The JZA70 is expensive to buy and to run, as are FB and FC RX7's, particularly turbos. The MR2 is good value, but twitchy, particulalry the 2nd generation ones. The Miata/MX5 is the perfect RWD learner.

Time for an update. I just brought some 16" TSW Volcanoes for my 1996 honda prelude SI VTEC. Ive been trying to save for my car for ages and I finally got a bit of time to work and earn some money. I really like the look of the wheels even thought theyre only 16"s.

I also have some JDM blacked backed headlights on the way (Original Honda ones) and some Cobra lowering springs. I wont be able to install the springs until I get my lisence back in a month and a half unfortunatly.

They look good, but you definitely need those springs

I went the other way round (put springs in first) because personally I would hate to have nice wheels with jacked-up suspension

I'll be getting my Rota RBs as soon as I can find someone who sells them in the right colour and size.

That thing will be looking sweet sitting low and sporting some JDM headlights. I was gonna post a link to a really helpful installation guide that I used for the headlights, but it's been 404'd. But if you need any help, feel free to ask.
