Re: Spore!
Spore is finally about to hit the stores.
Only two more days here in Europe.
I didn't preorder the game but I'm gonna go fetch it from a store on the day of the release.
Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
So, are you guys gonna get it?

Re: Spore!
As long as the whole copy-protection fiasco doesn't ruin it for me, it's looking awesome so far.
Re: Spore!
This game is going to be amazing... Unfortunately I'm extremely low on funds, and I doubt I'll be able to buy it on release day.
My roommate will be getting it for sure, though. I'll just have to sneak into his room and play it while he's at school... and at work... and while he's sleeping.

Re: Spore!
Holy crap. I have to admit I thought this game was stupid as hell just by looking at the poster in walmart, but I guess I judged WAY to soon!
This goes at #2 on my to-buy list.

The SecuRom thing or whatever they call it.Pabl0z wrote:What copy-protection fiasco?
Basically, you have to connect to EA via the internet to register the installation of the game, and it can only be installed 3 times. A lot of people have been complaining about it, as there have been issues with the DRM stuff in the past, including previous versions of Securom.
I'm having second thoughts about my own purchase now . . .
Re: Spore!
Yeah I know securom is crap. I had a game protected by it pretty much break my older dvd-drive!
And that registration thing sounds like another really bad idea..

Re: Spore!
I just want to clarify something; SecuROM has been the name of the copy protection software since at least 2002 or before (AFAIK); the new copy protection is apparently going to be included in Spore, Mass Effect, and *SHOCK AND HORROR!* possibly all EA games from that point on, INCLUDING THE NEXT NFS...
(but yeah, SecuROM caused a huge stir when it came out, as did StarForce... but this one looks far worse than both)
(slightly overreacting article)

(more neutral one by the same author)

Also note that EA claims they're going to tone it down a bit from how it's described in the above articles, but it'll still "phone home" occasionally.

Re: Spore!
does anyone know how i can fix my problem?
okay, i downloaded the spore creature creator trial,
and run the installer, the installer does nothing except bring up a error message saying the following;
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (135)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) Non IE/Netscape 11.0
With an ok button at the bottom,
and i can't figure it out...
other people have different problems with it,
mostly mismatching windows licenses and spore area codes, but it's got me baffled.
Give us a hand?

Re: Spore!
Stop fiddling with some trial creature creator and buy the game already .
I'm having a lot of fun with it!
I've taken my time and explored a lot of options in the game.
I'm playing the game on easy and it was pretty much child's play until the space-levels.
The game actually became pretty difficult when I made a lot of enemies of my neighbouring races on different planets and not any allies but I did manage to turn the situation around .
Maybe soon I can consentrate on the exploring part again and I won't have to be defending my colonies every five minutes.

Yeah, Yeah...
I know i should buy it, i've got the money,
but the only issue is, it's sold out in all Australian stores...
and that really sucks.

Re: Spore!
The creature-creator is only like $10 anyway...
I'd so be buying this, if it wasn't for Mercenaries 2... and the fact I have to pay for a new phone since I friggin' dropped mine. >.<*
