Interesting car builds
This is sort of supposed to be a more serious topic than most others in the Can of Spam, but I figured it sort of lends itself to posting repeatedly, so I'm posting it here. Don't make this a total spam-fest; no suggesting ideas involving boats and monster trucks and stuff.
Basically, the idea is to come up with a project car that you'd think that no one else has come up with already, or one that is really uncommon.
For example:
RWD Subaru Legacy GT (BL) for drifting
Okay, I'll start.
2-door Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V made out of a Mirage DE Coupe's body
(feel free to discuss some of the ideas as well)

This one, I would actually (and VERY happily) do.
Nissan 240SX S14a with S15 headlight/bumper conversion, LED tailights, white-out turn signals, and an RB26DETT... ooooh. *drool*

Re: Interesting car builds
S14.5s are probably possible; I know that many people have made S13.5s. (Heck, if you're gonna replace the front-end, a Zenki S14 would work the same as a Kouki S14a...)
Nissan "450ZX-TT": 350Z with VR38DETT bored-out to 4.5L (yes, this was inspired by the existing 420Z-TT that someone made), R34 Getrag transmission, GReddy lip kit, and VeilSide wing
EDIT: and if the VR can't be bored out that much, use a VG30DETT from the 300ZX bored out to around 4L, or the Nissan VK45DE engine twin-turbocharged

Re: Interesting car builds
So, how many have you actually seen? Especially with an RB26 under the hood.donaldgladden wrote:RedCarDriver wrote: Basically, the idea is to come up with a project car that you'd think that no one else has come up with already, or one that is really uncommon.Carcrazy wrote:

Yes, looking from the front, but the rears of the two have very different looks, not to mention the Kouki was made slightly longer.RedCarDriver wrote:S14.5s are probably possible; I know that many people have made S13.5s. Re: Interesting car builds
They're not different: the taillights are slightly different but those can be swapped (apparently you suggested doing that anyway) and aftermarket bumpers for both are interchangeable AFAIK. (I'm pretty sure side-skirts are too, which would imply that the Kouki and Zenki are the same length.)
Anyway, back on track (again...):
NSX with Mugen MF408S V8 (if it would fit - I've repeatedly heard this idea discussed but it has been shot down many times on speculation that there will be no room)

An M3 with the 6.2 L from the 63 AMG.
Re: Interesting car builds
4x1l 4cyl motorbike engines (caternam style) in an elise-style body. So that means you get a 4L V16 that revs to 13,000 RPM.
Or, a big electric motor mated to a 7-speed transmission, so it gets good top speed and mental response, in a le-mans prototype style body.

Re: Interesting car builds
A Nissan V12 made from the design of the RB26DETT engine (minus the turbos), then bored to 6.0L and twin-turbocharged (again after the turbos were removed).
Drop THAT into a Skyline (any R32 through R34, regardless of GT-R-ness, will work) and watch the awesomeness.

Caterham's use Ford Cosworth engines from memory...baumaxx1 wrote:4x1l 4cyl motorbike engines (caternam style)
I'd rather have the reverse process, the Exige Supercharged's four-pot slung onto a sportsbike. It's not like it's not possible, I mean MTT put a freaking helicopter engine in the Y2K... and the general dimensions are still there as is the normal shape of a sportsbike. And it goes 400kmph...

Re: Interesting car builds
A 2ZZ-GZE + trans is pretty damn huge from a motorbike perspective. I think it would end up being fairly long, just like that bike with the Viper motor (forgot the name).
If you were going to stretch the bike anyway, might as well go for a Hartley V8 H1 ftw.
