I encountered that problem once with Midnight Club LA, it kept freezing every 5mins or so during gameplay, Of course it's gone now but i'm pretty sure it was my xbox overheating which was causing the problem, just weird it happened to one game :-k

If it keeps recurring then i suggest you send it off for repairs ^^...

Ah yes, forgot to mention that - I've got one of the earlier models from 2006, his manufacturing date is august 2008 and it runs a lot cooler than mine.

It could be the disk drive... see if it has errors running a DVD. If it does I'd try finding a new (rather, used,) drive on Ebay or something of the such.

You mean a Blu-Ray drive...

And it will never have one, because microsoft supports HDDVD ONLY

Whats an HDDVD?

And if the Blu thing catches on as fast as it is, the next gen Xbox will have to have it. If Sony refuses to license it to MS, they could take them to court and ofcourse win.

But seeing one on the current 360 is unlikely.

You obviously aren't up to date in the high-def DVD's I see. HD-DVD's are made by Toshiba and are now supported by little companies. Microsoft is one of them. They have a $200 (I think) HD-DVD Player attachment for the 360. Sony is the Blu-Ray company. Microsoft wouldn't sue Sony because they don't care for Blu-Ray, although it's proven that it is the better choice.
Most movie companies release films on both but some are exclusively Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Hope that cleared things up a bit. Microsoft will never have Blu-Ray, unless HD-DVD becomes obsolete, which it is actually coming close to. So ja.

And you're gonna have to wait a long while for the next Xbox or any next-gen console to be released.

...or you could always make your own design. \:D/

I was being sarcastic.

HDDVD is already a dead format. :P

The next round of consoles is coming soon. The generations of consoles usually are around for 5-6 years until a new model is released.

Don't worry, it will have a Blu-ray drive, just because it is now the standard for High-def viewing pleasure, Micro$oft won't sit out and watch as Sony has the only console with Blu-ray capabilities.

You do know Sony basically created and owns Blu-Ray? Quote from wiki.
Sony started two projects applying the new diodes: UDO (Ultra Density Optical), and DVR Blue (together with Pioneer), a format of rewritable discs that would eventually become Blu-ray Disc (more specifically, BD-RE).
Also...
The current 19 board members (as of June 2009) are:[4]
Apple Inc.
Dell Inc.
Hewlett-Packard
Hitachi, Ltd.
Intel Corporation
LG Electronics (Lucky GoldStar)
Mitsubishi Electric
Panasonic (shiznit Electric Industrial)
Pioneer Corporation
Royal Philips Electronics
Samsung Electronics
Sharp Corporation
Sony Corporation
Sun Microsystems
TDK Corporation (Tokyo Denki Kagaku)
Thomson SA
20th Century Fox
Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group
Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc.
Microsoft isn't even mentioned in the CONTRIBUTORS section. I highly doubt they will have blu-ray drives in the next xbox. If anything, it'll be a third party addon.

2 out of 3 companies that were the manufacturers of the drives in the Xbox 360. Hitachi and Samsung. If you honestly think Micro$oft would miss out on a chance to possibly gain back revenue, you are insane.

Edit: to keep on track, buying a lowered price Elite before I go to Korea as my backup.
