You can't really compare Japanese cars with exotics, cause they are two different things. Japanese is the nationality, like american, italian, english, but exotic it a type of car. the Japanese cars which can compete with exotics are, actually exotics (Nissan R390, Toyota GT1, for example).

BTW, Daihatsu is Corean, I think.

thats wrong tho, because the kind of cars that can compete with exotics are highly tuned japanese sports cars, like the top secret supra, or over here 'rocket ronnies' skyline R33 GTR, which would kill most exotics in a straight line, and many round the track

at the moment i have bmw 316

e36 because my M3 had a little crash by my girlfriend

and i drive her 316 but anyway all cars need only two things good services/or yourself and good drivers
