thats a screenshot from NFSU1, i have a fx5700le, i have al lthe settings on max, and then i messed around with the setting in photoshop, i sharpened it, brigthened it, and added more contrast, i think it looks preety nice, im quite satisfied with it, but i think bojan's or thestigs pictures look the best, cause i rellly like the way he does his settings.Tunerfreak wrote:EmptyWords what card was your avatar taken with? I cant get over how shiny it is. Mines nearly that good but not quite. Or are you just in good light?
edit: i also take it in the olympic stage(i think its that one, its the one you have to race in in career mode, before you get your car) and its a lil after the first turn i take the pic, its got a building there, and i love the light reflections it gives me.
My CPU arrived finally.
Windows XP scratches head and doesn't know what it is.
Calls it AMD K7 Processor.
But it is a Mobile Barton 2500.
Currently running 1.90 GHz (Not done clocking yet!)
Anyways, full specs:
AMD Athlon XP Mobile Barton core 2500 (Running 1.90 GHz as above, duh)
EPoX 8RDA+ (Heatsink modded on the MOSFETS and Bridges
Also given it additional cooling mods http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bubo/ (Site shows the hottest spots)
512Mb RAM 2x 256MB TwinMOS PC 3200 running CAS 2.2.2.4 no heatsinks or whatsoever also stable at 200FSB...
Creative built Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 can run as Quadro 4 900 XGL with a driver swap.
Overclocked to 710 memory and 330 GPU. (No heatsinks on memory yet)
1x CD burner, AOPEN 48x CD burner.
1x DVD Burner, NEC with Dual layer (forgot speeds )
1x 6Gb IBM harddrive (Had a spare HD and spare slot)
1x 80Gb Western Digital Harddrive (WD doesn't fail me as often as IBM has)
1x Maxtor 300Gb USB 2.0 external HD 16Mb cache 7200 RPM (Faster than my internals)
450 Watt Q-Tec powersupply (Sounds like a airplane and doesn't have the best voltage rails, gonna swap it later with something more silent and efficient PSU, think Antec)
15 inch CRT monitor from an old 686 (AST Vision 5L) And don't mess with it, cause I am NOT swapping it.
It did beat my moms 17 in refresh rate and highest supported res
Next planned upgrade is a bit big, so I will wait, I think I have gone as far as my case and computer hardware will go, few graphics cards today are worth the money to upgrade to from a GeForce 4 like mine, so the next one will feature:
New case, PSU, Motherboard, CPU, Graphics card and cooling solutions.
When that is done, I can lean back for a few years, but for now, what I got will have to do.

you dont wanna know my specs but anyways
3DIntel Graphics Extreme AGP
1.70 Ghz Celeron Processor
CD Rom 48x max read
56k fax ready modem limited to 53kbps.
40GB Hard Drive Ultra DMA
128MB DDR for Opitimized Performance9(JEEZ!!!!!)
10/100Mbps Ethernet
Very weak indeed but just enough to play MOHAA but not enough for HL2. i cant even play NASCAR Sim Racing for chirst sake.
Oh yeah about my monitor i have a SyncMaster 997df made by Samsung. not to mention this little Tco Displays sticker on the side

512 Mb is great for XP, especially when you got fast ram.GT3x24x7 wrote:Your next upgrade should be RAM IMO. You're not doing yourself any favours running XP on 512Mb.
On those timings it really does the job, memory timings is where AMD rigs gain most speeds.
Besides, finding a 512Mb chip with BH5 memory today is next to impossible.
I need BH5 to be able to keep up with the current sticks.
Besides, I also run dual channel, only a slight boost on a AMD rig though.
Take everything I can.
btw, currently running CPU and mobo @ 400MHz FSB and 2.10 GHz...
Still can go more, with a better board, 2.60 GHz is in my sights.

Well put it like this: Todays memory is built out of CH5 type, in other words it is a cheaper material that doesn't handle the same timings as the older BH5 but requires less voltage.GT3x24x7 wrote:Mmm, disagreement here. 512Mb might be great, but a gig is far better. You have the slots free and at today's prices I don't know what's stopping you.
However, the BH5 can easily handle the timings but requires more voltage (at 400MHz my memory which is using BH5 chips is at 2.75 volts)
However, main problem is, I got one more slot availible but if I add a 512 chip of CH5 I will have to increase timings and run in 64 Bit Dual channel instead of 128Bit a bit hamper on the overclocking.
And if I swap out the current modules, I will lose the ability to run such low timings without paying my shirt off (Expensive chips)
So anyways, 512Mb is enough, I will be looking into stripping XP for more memory if the future demands it I currently have 384 MB RAM availible for usage and have no problems with memory at all.
More memory is good for gaining speed I agree, but to me, fast memory that keep up with the FSB is more important than having a lot of memory.

me too... i have 1 gb of ram and xp runs ok.. i borrowed my friend's 1 gb of ram and it ran hella fast.. my motherboard will allow 4 gb but i dont know what and how XP would react.....lolGT3x24x7 wrote:Mmm, disagreement here. 512Mb might be great, but a gig is far better. I don't have enough money to buy myself a O-so-great PC, so a usual nice one is the one I'm getting.
ATI Radeon 9600 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP
1.8 GHz Athlon XP
Corsair Value Select 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200
ASUS A7V400-MX Motherboard
All that costs $272 Newegg is awsome.

just finished building it (still has some spare parts from old computer like CD drives, Hard drives, and Floppy Drive)
AMD Ahtlon 64 3000+ clocked at 2.33 GHz
ASUS K8N Motherboard
512 MB of DDR2 RAM (upgradable to 3GB DDR2)
nVidia GeForce 3 Chipset
Realtec AC97 7.1 Audio
Creative Labs 300 Watt 2.1 Speaker System
ATI Radeon 9200 Graphics Card
2 HDD drives - 160 GB and 30 GB
Enermax Voltron Case with 460 watts power supply :-D
17" CRT from Compaq (Part of my old setup)
I'm thinking about getting a newer monitor, but havent been able to save up enuf yet... I'm always spending it on my girlfriend
i gotta say tho, I LOVE MY CASE!!! thing's got everything i cud ever ask for. a huge power supply, temperature display, supports even extended sized motherboards, has a black finish, AND wire mesh over every opening to prevent dust inside. and trust me, that works!
