IGN posted what appears to be the first review of Need for Speed Carbon available.
Need For Speed Carbon isn't a revolutionary game and it's far from a stinker. Instead, it's what EA does best, usually. It creates pretty good games with lots of features. Carbon switches out drag racing and Pacific North West backgrounds for drift racing and inner city urban streets. The freaky FMV filtered stuff is back and there seems to be more than ever (too much?). The drifting is an acquired taste (but it's good), the canyon duals are decent changes (though not great), and the crews...well, they suck. Of the myriad new features, the addition of muscle cars and the online functionality are the best. The muscle cars bring real challenge and change to the races and the online games (when lag isn't hampering you) are great cop-chase endeavors.
Wow, I guess I am a bit surprised you know. I thought the ratings would be a bit higher but, its worst than Most Wanted. Its probably because of the lack of cops.
Seems like this website is a ghost town. No longer worth a visit or anyone's time.
This game hasmiserable graphics. I'm not talking about level of detail but in the way it generally looks. It looks like a comic book. Andthis auto detect thing that EA did really sets me off. I have a 128MB GForce 6600 and 748Mb of ram and car reflections update on the low and i can't adjust it. And at the same time I'm playing on 1024 x 768 with x4antialiasing.
How come I support motion blur and cool reflections in MW and I can't in Carbon
Again I can't forgive EA for winning counless millions for something they could have done lot better with lot lower system requierments
Hm that's interesting...i have XP2200+, 256 MB GForce 6600 and 512 MB RAM and i can adjust everything. Maybe its a problem of graphic card drivers or maybe demo.
Because it looks like a comic book. And some graphic settings are not supported on my video card which BTW plays Ghost Recon on 1280 x 1024 without lagg..........
The demo's graphics options are not optimized. I know I can have motion blur, yet I don't have the option available to me in the demo.
The Most Wanted demo exhibited the same thing. I couldn't turn on rain effects or visual treatment in the demo, but those options worked fine in the final version.

I really hope that there will be a visual treatment option in the final release that wasnt put in the demo, cause judging from the other 2 versions, their colours were more rich and not pale like the PC version.
