Manual or Automatic?
Manual or Automatic?
I was just wondering which tranny people used. I'm a Manual user.
Don't worry. I won't laugh at the people who use auto.

I do always use Manual, the only game I did not use Manual at first was Forza because it was already hard enough when youre a new console user.
But sadly for Carbon the Automatic mode is faster then in most races, on auto you can accelerate alot faster in the high power cars like the Vette, cause with manual you reach the rev limiter to fast and you can react in time and the auto box does.
In older NFS games like U1 the Manual setup was faster then auto. you could shave of seconds in a lap with manual vs Auto.
In MW I felt that Manual was also faster, atleast it gave felt faster.
In Carbon it you the whole rev system is weird and you are in red before you know it but still the car feels like it has plenty of power left while the auto box shifts up before that.

Well, I like manual, but I have in my real life car (a modified 1995 Chevy Caprice) a custom 6 speed automatic racing transmission. 1st and 2nd gears are filed down so when I mash the gas from a standstill, it slips into 3rd without tearing up 1st and 2nd, very ingenious design and still very fast. But costs a hell of a lot of money. Also ingame, nitrous does the work to get me up to speed, therby making my car hit the redline faster.
I always use Manual transmission at NFS games. they're so simple to even use automatic LOL. It's easy to use manual just listen to the engine, shift up when the sound is high enough (try some times when driving a new ride) and enjoy it.
Its like:
0-0.3 seconds: 1st gear: 80kph
0.3-0.5 seconds: 2nd gear: 130kph
0.5-0.7senconds: 3rd gear: 160kph
and so on
I know what you mean. Some cars like the Corvette or the Camaro Concept are insaneTheStig wrote:In Carbon it you the whole rev system is weird and you are in red before you know it but still the car feels like it has plenty of power left while the auto box shifts up before that.

I use auto too. It's apparent on certain spots on canyon sprints where shift points are not ideal. Right now, I'm using a steering wheel without a shift stick and not thrilled with the placement of buttons. Still, I think I need to learn to use manual, starting to max out what I can do with a slush box on a steering wheel controller.
Then again, for all I know, it might not really make that huge a difference.
