Used auto most of the time in the earlier NFS games.

I started switching to manual while playing career mode for the second time in NFSMW. Now i can't race properly without manual tranny and engine braking.
*sig removed for being too big. limits are 550x120px and 50kb*

As far as it goes with Arcade games (like nfs), i prefer AUTO, coz imo there's not much difference & feel to it.

i use Semi-Auto in Colin McRae 2005 (CMR 05), it really rocks. if i'm going tooo wide in a corner, i just Down-Shift & give full throttle - save time.

i also use Manual in Challenge Series (CMR 05).

you guys noticed, whenever we Downshift in NFS MW (in auto mode also), the cars whine like b1tches, (feels very dumbastic  ), but in CMR 05, it feels almost realistic.

its gotta be auto, if im playing computer games its cause i dont feel like doing anything active, so i even when playing, i want to be as inactive as possible. screw constantly hitting two keys, whats the point when the computer can do it for you?

higher top speed, faster acceleration, and more control are the benefits to a manual over a auto

For those long trips, Auto and Cruise Control are a must...

I find it unnatural to use Automatic in racing games. I've tried using Auto during afew races of canyon duels, but it just drove me insane. Accelerating out of tight bends... I find that the gears take a while to respond, so it ends up adding a few more seconds to your time.

I go with manual.

I find it helps (at least for me it does) with some of the drifting events.
The engine braking also feels better than with auto.

I lik eto use automatic while racing to, but when driving around doing those free roam races in Carbon I like to use Manual because it makes it more realistic.

I use automatic. My reasoning? I'm lazy and don't want to take the time to do manual. I also find it hard to manage manual in races with lots of turns. I can't do manual very well, if it hurts my time more than helps it, why use it? I'm an auto. :)

an auto hurts it even more if it goes into a corner and shifts up too late u cant shift out of it unless u slow your car down

I gotto go with Manual, more horsepower and its more fun then just holding the steering wheel the whole time.

manual FTW... and yeh... without manual u can never be pro.. in drift most likely...
And from i have learned... once when u get used to manual, driving with automatic is like someone else drives for you, shifting at the wrong times, cant use lower gear braking...

im sort of well know in MW online I use auto all the time. I just tap the breaks to slow down like manual, then on sharp turns step of the gas for a second glide the corners.
