Washing your car
Washing your car
How do I come up with stuff like this???
Well it is simple, my grandpa was suprised that I was to "lazy" to wash my car myself and always go to the carwash to do it.
I said I could not be bothered to do it myself and get myself dirty and spend half a day on the car, when I pay 7 euro to let the carwash do it for me. and they do it alot faster and better then I can

Well I don't really have a car to wash but I do wash my mom's car occasionally... My dad's car (mine too) needs some rust cleaning first -.-
I wash my mom's car by hand because IMHO Corsa is a very sexy car, and since I haven't touched anything that's female for a pretty long time, Corsa makes up for it... I do it inside also (honestly, i'm pretty good at interior cleaning)

That's a coincidence, I just finished doing the CSL. I do it by hand and it usually takes me the best part of 3 hours, but a bit more today
This was the order today:
1) Rinse down to remove excess grit
2) Car shampoo- Meguiars Gold Class, 3 buckets warm water + 2 clean wash mitts.
3) Clayed- mainly to remove tree sap and grit marks from the car. Using a bar of clay and Meguiars detailer.
4) Paint care- Meguiars paint cleaner, Meguiars deep crystal polish, aplicator pads
5) Buffer polished- DeWalt DW443, Medium/Light buffer pad, Meguiars Speed glaze, removed with a microfibre cloth
6) Clearcoat waxed.
-EDIT
And yes, I do that about once a week.

That's why you go the extra mile and get designs painted on your car.
Anyway, if I were taking extra care f my car, I'd wash it by hand. But if it were just a 'point-a to point-b' car, I'd just get it washed through the carwash. My mom gets her Civic washed regularly in the carwash, and it never really does a great job.

I'm suprised that so many people take the time and effort to do it theirselfs.
Maybe if I had the time to do it myself I would do it, but in general I'll wait till it is clearly dirty and then drive it to the carwash.
For instance now the Yaris is really dirty from driving in rainy weather over the highways and it is dirty for the entire weekend (incl xmas) but will bring it by the carwash today cause it really is a mess.. maybe I can make a nice pic of it
The Type-R is still shiny as the sun, and as it gets dirty I maybe try and wash myself at the carwash

I give my car a bath every two months or so. Whenever she doesn't get a bath from the servicing she requires. The nice people at Toyota always wash her after they work on her.
My idea of a bath usually involves driving my 98 Toyota Corolla to the nearest manual car wash, getting change for $3, and using the high-powered hoses and soap and scrubbers to wash my car clean. Then it's the painful process of waxing her so that her shine stays. Waxing by hand is the only way to go, .

I also wash both my cars by hand. However, since it is my workhorse (covering 40,000 miles per annum), the Leon gets washed by far the most frequently (generally once it is black instead of gold!)
When I owned my last Astra, it always went through the car wash - never did it any harm. So why don't I use a carwash for the SEAT? One reason - it has a non-removable radio aeriel (what SEAT call an anti-theft aerial), which will only fold to a horizonal position, overhanging the rear window and laying on the standard roof spoiler - I have a sneaking suspicion that the car wash would either mash it or smack it hard into the spoiler, damaging it.
EDIT: How the hell do people spend half a day on washing the car? I'm done in about half an HOUR and it looks like new when I've finished!

I wash by hand. Twice a month usually. Takes me about two hours tho at summer time a bit less.
It just really pisses me off that now that it's winter the washing takes 2 hours but after 5 minute drive the car looks the same as before the wash :S
Good thing about washing is that I can do it in the garage I keep my car and it only cost 2€ per wash(of course there's monthly fee for using the garage).

I do it by hand, I dont like people touching my car! Generally give it a quick once over with water, then a proper wash and wax, then hand-leathered off and waxed properly with meguiars. If its the show season, I also remove my wheels and clean the back of them.

I don't have a problem as such, but it's an AE86 and they should be left well alone from ricing.Tuners Rock wrote:Yes i do, got a problem with that.steelsnake00 wrote:You have Vinyl on your car?Tuners Rock wrote:I hand wash my car, because I put some visual mods on it, and the car wash might scratch it with those wipers, peel the vinyl right off.
