Whootedness
I have to say that the replay feature is VERY welcome in my eyes.
Nothing like pulling off a awesomely close race and then watching it all in video.
I kinda wish there was a way to save the replays.

Gees, after looking at those screenshots you guys took from the demo, seems that the graphic sucks a lot, especially the trees...
I don't know if that's the video card's fault or it's in JPG format, but if you compare the screenshots with the PS2 & XBox version, they looked better compared to the PC...

I took 5 screens from the demo; they're the last 5 in our ss section

Well let me give my opinion on the game. On the whole is great as it was said about it. I did like a lot of things and others. The Shop ideas are great, much better than in U1 and are spread very nicely and aren't that difficult to find! Outrun mode is great, because you can never be sure of loosing/wining a game since there is a huge margain of error. Graphics are great and the sense of speed is quite acceptable, especially when reaching the 200kmph! The sound is simply outstanding, I just fell in love with the beautiful music of the engine. It is a game that it is worth to buy even though I prefer U1 as regards driveabiltity of the cars. The open world is a little bit confusing and difficult to understand at first, but well, it is a great game!

One other thing I didn't like about the demo - when I went to bed last night, I shutdown the PC in the usual way, and it hung on Logging Off.
I have just booted up the PC today and had to sit through a CheckDisk because I had a dirty system volume (which takes a long time on a 120GB hard disk).
It may be coincidence, (I don't believe in coincidence where PC's are concerned) but I have never had this problem before I installed and played the demo (and I actually spent over an hour on it in the end, I guess it will be quite addictive... I suppose I'll have to force myself to buy the full version, if only to prove that not all the cars have as bad handling as the 350Z IMHO).
Of course, the dirty system volume might have something to do with the porn I was downloading at the same time...
Anyway, off to give it another go - I quite like the look of the red 350Z and the roof scoops in the new version are a lot nicer than in NFSU1.

Silver, green, red and yellow 350Zs look not so bad at fullest settings. I'm glad I can use my system to the max with no slowdowns.
Music - oh so much better, I am not a fan of style, but at least it can 'hum' in the background, unlike the pop-ish crap of first one.
Free roam - boring, but probably most interesting in full game.
Again, graphics for PC is better - doesn't look like just a quick port from PS2 and it scores for me on that area.
So, overall the demo of this is definately better than the NFSU1. What I don't like and wasn't fixed - the horrible driving physics. I just can't bring myself to learn an 'imaginary' way of driving a car, and it means that I'll probably use NFSU2 to customize cars and whatnot, and not race. For real racing, there are sims outthere which I get to satisfy my REAL need for speed.
Damage on AI caes looked noticable. Again, glad about that. My car was indestructable, so... OK, everything seems normal.

Re: Y Is Every1 Biatching?
Isn't the purpose of a demo to impress people and show the best of the game? This far I've read more negative reviews of disappointed people than of cheering peopleMr_Wazza wrote:I just got it last night and came on here 2 read wat other ppl think of it and i rather disappointed wit the ppls attitude. IT JUST A DEMO!!!
It's the opinion of anyone with a bit of taste. Look at the official screenshots. Some of the bodykits make these cars look like space shuttles and ferry boats ... you can't argue with that. Take a look at what a real bodykit looks like and then give your honest opinion.Mr_Wazza wrote:ok 1st off u dont need to have hydro its just an option and as for the ugly body kits thats just ur opion
We don't, of course. However we do know that there was very little difference between the cars in Underground 1 and having been accustomed to generalization by EA themselves, it can only be like that. Again ... the demo is supposed to impress and show the best of a game, so I would guess the 350 is a high level car in this game. And if that's a high level ... imagine the low level. It handles like a soapbox. The physics are completely off scale.Mr_Wazza wrote:2nd: As for the cars being to heavy on the road uve only used 1 car out of 30 how do u know wat the others are like.
Once again ... it's suppposed to be impressive. I'm not impressed.Mr_Wazza wrote:3rd: not being able to get up anough speed cuz theres 2 many turns, its just 1 area of 5, if u look at the map there are heaps or sraights to gun it on.
whatever? I'm surprised there even were so many features in the game and a whole of four different equal 350. Once again, the improvements in customization are somewhat lame in my opinion. Mirrors? Hoods opening in one way or the other? NOS Purge? Spinner rims? ok WHAT IS THIS?Mr_Wazza wrote:The only thing i was disappointed wit was the shops u couldnt actually go in them u could just preview.
That's because you wouldn't recognize something good even if you got your face smeared into it! If you can't drive it's not our problem. If you can't apreciate borderline realistic physics and a complex handling model ... it once again isn't our problem. Keep toying with soapboxes .Mr_Wazza wrote:As for Juiced being betta ive played it and its sooooo crap its not funny the graphics are good but thats bout it
I have a point to add to my first review. This is the second day I've come online with this demo. The first day it worked finely, the second there was no way of actually getting a ping to any servers. Servers showed up with a delay of a minute or so. The lag is barely tolerable ... and I played with a friend who lives on the street next to mine.
But to add to the gameplay flaming ... we've tried out a couple of things and the most noteworthy idiocy is that the ping pong effect hasn't decreased, but rather increased. Slowing down and tackling the curves the way you're supposed to do ... equals to suicide. People blast past you and use the "right" tactic ... which is to slingshot off the walls and ricochette from them like billiard balls. I tried it ... why use the shortcuts? You have to break and slow down ... slam up the wall with 240 ... you'll exit it with a speed of 180 ... sorry if I find that pathetic. I was used to this "bug" in NFSU1 ... but I had severely hoped that EA would have decreased the lameness in their sequel. Instead it's obvious they've only increased it by further promoting this slingshot effect and introducing rechargable NOS.
I stick to UrQ and agree with his statement. If I will tolerate the aspects of the cars in the retail version ... I might get some modding under works. But else there is no way in hell this game is actually enjoyable to drive.

I just Love the Demo, yes there are some things that need a bit more work, but i figure it is just for the demo cuz if they would add every thing to the fullest even if you had one car and not four you'd spend two days only downloading it
I think the full version will Rock, even the demo rocks....
it ran ok on 800x600 for me, i didn't expect anything more from my videocard i have a geforce 4 FX 5200 256.. i'm only 15 and the PC is for the whole family... so when i asked my dad for a better card he said, What the hell do we need a more powerfull card for!! lol...
But i'm kinda hopeing to upgrade soon, and i'll see how it runs then, well most probably it'll be with the full version then!

Here's one other really annoying thing about the Demo - I'm amazed nobody else has noted it:
The very first time I started the Demo, it loaded up, did the "EA Games - Bugger Up Everything" bit, ran through the movies and then crashed straight out to the desktop! I thought OK, it's only just been installed, I can forgive this once. Maybe Windows is sorting itself out or something.
However, today, after about an hour's play, I was starting to think, "Hey, I quite like this game, perhaps I will buy it after all!". I had visited 3 shops, Out-Ran about 4 opponents, done a few drift races and circuits and as I went back into Free Roaming mode - crash to desktop. I had won every circuit race; maybe this is an undocumented feature to prevent you from playing for too long and getting too good? If this happens in the full game, I hope they have autosaving of progress like they did in NFSU1. However, NFSU1 has never crashed on me, despite playing it whilst downloading large (100% LEGAL, I hasten to add!) files.
Other people have said that demos are supposed to be impressive? I for one am not impressed with unsolved Class A Crashes/Hangs. Bearing in mind that I am running a modern PC of pretty high spec, with Windows XP Professional SP2, I would expect the game to be stable. If it can't run properly on that, what hope is there for people with older PC's?
Anyone else suffered crashes

Downloaded played it(for hours) loved it but there are probs i do have with it, let me review this thing
INTRO-Pretty cool but just on par with last nfsu1's intro movie, seems they favour the 350z a bit in nfsu2, its everywhere.
Menu-Much better than nfsu1's menu appearance
Cars in Demo- Aren't well designed but they do all have a different feel to me, meaning fine tuning must work.
Ok now the game it self, At 1st I maxed out all visual settings, but to my surprise the game ran like shiznit, but i messed around with the setting and i have to say it runs better than nfsu1, settings-800x600, max details, enhanced contrast(makes the game look a bit better, but makes it ultra slow), antialising and world detail 1 pitch from max, everything else maxed and it ran sweet.
Motion blur is less blurry, atleast now i can actually see the road, cars looks less reflective which in my opinion is not better, they now look like dead metal with sheen but not too bad, hopefully its just the colours and the actually colours look like nfsu1. The environment looks beautiful, way more appealing than nfsu1. The road though looks less reflective but bah it looks more real.
Engine sounds much better, and the new rebuff when the gear ratio is maxed can be helpful to peeps who hate watching the rev meter, I can actually hear the traffic cars engine and sumtimes i can hear music playing from a taffic car(while drifting).
The car overall feels heavier but still controllable(with right gearing down and brake usage and sumtimes hand brake.
I love the new features, nos refill is kewl, seeing as i love dodging traffic, the coloured meter looks nice. The replay is awesome best mini feature yet, nice angles too, wish i could save em.
Game modes are still good and new additons are kewl and hard, the outrun is fun and quick, I love it, downhill drifting was hard for me, still can't come higher than 4th hopefully with another car i can do better.
Overall very good demo, runs sweet, unlimited outruns as it would seem. 9/10

i think the demo is great i ran it for 3 hours just playin outrun and exploring beacon hill, as for the cars the handling is a lil hard to handle but u get used to it after a while, the "race breaker" i found was very gud indeed saves time to get out of those hairy places of being in 2nd on last lap, at least ea cud of put the evo in i never did like the 350z
Well, I read a full hands on preview of IGN! They didn't complain about anything like a lot of people are doing here! Probably the game is far much more better than the demo. Well, instead of criticising the demo, let us waut for the whole game to be in our hands and see what offers to us. From what I have read at IGN, I am going to buy it!
that's one thing i have to agree with in UG1 i had motion blur always off cause i didn't see sh*. now i like to play with motion blur. i had it off the first time i tried the demo but then i said to myself: "Oh, well it doesn't hurt if you try ". and so i tried it and i like it.samurilos wrote:Motion blur is less blurry, atleast now i can actually see the road...
but cameras in demo are bunch of cr*p. only the one that doesn't shows just the world, speed counters etc. is preaty cool.
