Theres a game out called Racer. Its really small to download because the main point of the game is to download or create your owns cars to import into the game. Its quite realistic too.
Go to
http://www.racer.nl/ for the download and some links to cars and tracks.
I suggest you download the latest beta version of Racer, its what im using and its alot better than the previous Racers.
So go on, give it a shot!

I just got a virus in my pc after installing this game. Dont know if it was the game so be careful.
It was a trojan virus and seems to have infected most of my files in my temp folder dammit. BE CAREFUL!
My recycle bin became corrupted.

I think Racer would be more secure than that from official download sites, unless you used a p2p?

well it's more like a freebie simulation (only 18MB) and it's very well done. here's a screen shot of my downloaded Team PTG BMW M3 GTR

did you run the config.exe to configure your game first? also, the resolution must fit your desktop or it'll crash. i dunno about the controls, though it is only a beta.. so it's best to assume some bugs. i race with the mouse, so i don't mess with the controls.

i don't have the D1 pack and i can't stand the physics of the cars. the only car i could ever drift and maintain control in was the APEXi RX-7. i usually race around Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Heffner TT Gallardo. BIG track and gives lots of turns of varying styles and angles. good practice and good challenge.

thought i'd do this for some people:
there ARE imports that you can download for this game was well as exotics, muscles, and even GT class cars (like my Team PTG M3 GTR).
here's a Spoon S2000 converted from GT4 i think. i use it on Carlswood a lot against the default Murcielago. REALLY fun to drive, but if you give it too much on exit.. it WILL spin. i also have the Spoon Civic Hatchback.

That is NOT from GT4. GT4 has much better geometry than that...

It doesn't look that bad. GT4 is a few years old, anyway, you can't expect the geometry to be that good.
