This.....
boganbusman wrote:Logitech MX400 mouse
Logitech Internet 350 k/b
Samsung 953BW 19" 2ms widescreen LCD
Altec Lansing MX5021 2.1 speakers
Want suggestions?
I just bought that stuff! :P

I'm not fussy about k/b and mouse. It hads buttons and works; I'm not a hardcore gamer.
The screen is big enough for what I need. Any larger and I would have to upgrade everything else to maintain my framerate.
And don't try to tell me that Logitech speakers are better than my Altecs  I don't have room for a 5.1 system, and I can't afford a bookshelf speaker set-up, so those are good for now.

I was thinking that the CPU is falling behind (I now regret not buying Intel >.<) but I don't think that will have a major impact on my performace atm.

LOL ^

That is honestly all I have to say. New monitor please, 20" or larger... anything under it fails.

Sick machine, Gravedigger. :p

Honestly, I don't know what to do with mine. It's a little outdated, I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading it. I remember getting my X2 3800 like 2,5 years ago, my wallet took a proper pounding with the amount of money a AMD dualcore cost back then. :( Was close to king of the hill with the speeds I reached with it, 2.9GHz on a AMD was sick. Couldn't wish for anything better until the Conroes came and smacked the shiznit out of them so easily. :?

I'm playing a game now and then on my PC, not that often as it's usually racing games that appear once in a couple of years or NFS. Started up Flatout: Ultimate Carnage and it ran like crap on 1280x1024, settings on medium and a complete lack of anti-aliasing. Oh well, the 7900GTO is getting outdated too. Was cheap compared to the 7900GTX back then, the price I paid for it gets you a 4870 now.

It pains me to see prices of CPUs so low, it makes me want to get a E8400 or Q6600, a mobo and DDR2 memory (which doesn't cost jack either) and overclock the shiznit out of it. Stll that slow 7900GTO though.

3 options:
AMD to Intel / Graphics card only / Leave it

I have a similar level pc than PSZeta but I opted to still get my mobo replaced when it broke and not just buy a whole new thing.
The prices are down, yeah, but I'm still gonna go for another year or so with this setup until I upgrade.
There are new AMD cpus with new sockets (of course..) coming out and I wanna see what they can do.
And besides, I'm used to playing games on low settings before I got this pc so I don't really mind.

The Shanghai/Denebs? They look to be good, 45nm too. Then again, the Phenom was supposed to be good but gets beat by the Intel Core2Quad line and OCs like crap unless on the new chipset that is out now.

I'm like you. I could finish my re-build, but since the fact that I need my car fixed came up sooner than I though, I'd rather put money into things I'd use more often... like those JL Audio speakers.

Although seriously, if you want a Quad on a dime, I do love this Q6600, although I'd get a 9000 now. :P

Spending money on CPU/Mobo parts are useless since Nehelem is arriving and the Asus R.O.G. X58 mobo will support SLi and Crossfire. No, not hacked drivers, native SLi and Crossfire support. Though the only overclockable one will be the high end Core i7 versions (signified by the black logo instead of blue) they still will be great peformers and a whole new chipset.

What to change? Everything.
All of the stuff is outdated.
Don't do the mistake and start upgrading bit by bit, you'll just end up with bottlenecks.
Save the money and buy a completely new system at once.

You can't exactly upgrade any of that.... I doubt you could find a processor to suit that old mobo, ram you can get. but don't, it's more expensive... you can upgrade the graphics, but even a 7600 would be bottlenecked there probably, I had mine on a better system. And also, AGP is more expensive as it's outdated. Save up, and get a new one. You could probably keep the DVD drive, HDDs, screen case if you want to save money, but I'd still opt for a new SATA master HDD.You can get a decent rig cheap... I have an 8600GT 512mb, a dual core, 2gb ram and it's good for crysis on high-ish settings... looks quite good. :) So I swapped mobo, DVD (you could keep yours, and get a new HDD, but I opted for this as I wanted to use as many previous HDDs, I had 700gb before, and my 80gb was the system drive, so an 80 internal would've sucked), GFX, RAM and CPU. All up $350

OK guys....thanks for the advices...........i'll try to get a new rig...........mainly because i'm starting to learn programming and stuff...........just a begginer but still....there's enough time to learn............anyways it will probably be better to just buy a new one........and sell the old one for a resonable price..........

Hmm..here are some specs from my new rig ..hehe

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.33 Ghz ( overclocked )
EVGA nforce 780i SLI 775
OCZ 2x2GB 1066 Mhz Ram
Western Digital 1 TB SATA2 HD
Western Digital 500GB MyBook external SATA HD
Logitech G9 laser mouse... THis thing RoXz!!
Microsoft keyborad,
Thermaltake Toughpower 850W PSU
Thermaltake M9 Case
Acer 22" 2ms monitor.

Now the most stupid thing i did after getting this setup was install, a 32 bit OS.. :(
For anyone whus interested, the nforce mobo, is a bit of a pain...as its firewall is Nasty, n its got heating issues aswell.

The only thing left to upgrade is my 7900 GTX..but i still cant decide on whats the best option. #-o

What's wrong with 32 bit? It's not like 64 is working properly, lol... 32 bit vista is still stuffed.

Some people will find it hard to migrate between the two once you get accustomed... I've actually been thinking about 64 bit just so I can get up to an entire 4GBs of RAM.

Well, dont know about all the differences, but i do know that 32bit OS cant handle 4GB or higher RAM. Its got something to do with 2 raised to the 32th power or something!.. :P . Anywhu, I heard that 64bit OS are backward compatible ,i.e. they can run 32bit as well as 64bit programs, and that the only main concern is finding compatible drivers.

I'm finally upgrading because my dad wants to take my PC parts. What do you think of these?
Idea1: Foxconn X38A Motherboard
ATI Radeon 4850 MSI with Quad-pipe cooling
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
DDR2 800 4GB memory (and hard drives will come from my old pc as well as the CDROMs and stuff)

Idea2: ECS P45T-A Motherboard
ATI Radeon 4850
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
DDR2 800 4GB Memory

Idea3: ECS P45T-A Motherboard
ATI Radeon 4850
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
DDR2 800 4GB Memory

My dad just got a huge promotion, so he is ready to spend a lot for future stuff (like the X38 and the Q9550), but is the more expensive one really worth it?

PS: The problem with the graphics is that I have to pay for it, and I only have $280 left in my bank account, so I'd have like $80 leftover with the 4850. I can't even afford the 4870.
