There are NO AAA title race sims on the PC. Absolutely none. Unfortunately, this is starting to look like Pro street 2.
Besides, you will have your arcadey 4th Black Box title.

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
The game looks really good, but the damage model seems outdated. It seems way too simple (mirrored looking damage?). The cars and graphics look great compared to undercover or prostreet. I just hope that the older video cards can run it good.
Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
i think Shift will be good it is not 100% by EA

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
Videos've shown us easy gameplay with all driving assistance systems turned on. But i expect that Shift won't be a arcade title. Let's take the GT2 M3 video as an example, as you notice the speedometer, it shows sim-liked-low-speed at conners. But on the other hand, the handling seems to be softcore, that makes me worry .

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
Before stating my opinion, here's the list of "Need For Speed" games I've played before:
The Need For Speed (The original one.)
Porsche 2000 (Loved it.)
Hot Pursuit 2 (Good game, but I didn't like it.)
Underground (Ups, I think I stepped on a ****.)
Underground 2 (PLEASE STOP THE RICING!!!)
Most Wanted (Meh. At least has supercars.)
Carbon (**** the storyline, **** the riced supercars, and **** having to defend your territory.)
ProStreet (No cops? No stupid vinyls? Pure racing? HELL YEAH!)
Undercover (SHUT UP, ***** AND TELL ME...bah, **** it, I'm gonna play ProStreet)
After that background check, I'll say that SHIFT looks promising. I want it.

In that case, SHIFT better own Forza or they'll never hear the end of it from their fans.

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
I'm not terribly confident about Shift >_> ProStreet was quite a disappointment, since I expected it to be more than what it really was, and a lot of the promised "features" were really just ways of justifying annoying things they built into the game and never took out (the "raceday" system seemed to me like more of a hindrance than a feature to me); I think Shift will be the same way in many regards.
On the other hand, it could be a totally awesome game, with all the features I expected in ProStreet that never happened plus loads of other features - but, of course, it could just be ProStreet thrown in the microwave, and it seems more likely that it'll end up being the latter.
@ GuitarHero: Sure, UG2 had lots of rice, but you could just not rice your car to avoid the rice (I have tastefully-done replicas of the Mine's R34, the RE Amemiya D1GP RX-7, and two VeilSide cars, among others). Besides, UG2's physics were among the best out of the entire NFS series (especially at 155MPH-ish speeds, with traction control off).

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
I have to disagree with you. You have to remember the one key thing about this game: EA isnt producing it, they are just publishing it. Also Slighty Mad has had experience in making good simulators with the help of SimBin Studios. I expect a good quality game. Besides, ProStreet was a HYBRID, not a SIMULATOR. Prostreet was produced by EA Black Box and Published by EA. Shift is a racing simulator produced by Slighty Mad which is not part of EA. The only real involvment EA has is publishing it.

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
That's absolutely disgusting that EA thinks they can beat out Forza 3. I'm actually considering not getting SHIFT (no matter how good the game is) because of that cocky statement.

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
Who knows? That might be confidence that EA has. Although I agree that they shouldn't count their chickens until they hatch.

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
I think that is a ridiculous statement - but I like it. Hopefully this kind of confidence means they have a solid game. And I know Forza 3 won't disappoint. Two good games are better than one. Amiright?

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
yes you are. the problem will be deciding which one is better.
Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
In all honesty I really doubt Shift can outperform Forza 3.
If it comes even close to Forza 2 in terms of gameplay it would be a achievement.
Yeah it's build by a hired studio but still with EA's demands on how to build it and what to add and what not.
I got the feeling it will be a Pro Street 2 with upgraded physics and gfx and slightly bigger.
It might be a pretty good game especially compared to recent NFS games... but I don't think it will touch Forza 3, The screenshots give a real NFS feeling (ProStreet) and I got the feeling it will play like we know NFS games.
EA will not drop NFS's style fullstop and adopt 100% hardcore simulation.
If they added all kinds of special physics etc they would brag about it endlessly. (Turn 10 is braging about that btw (turn 10 = Forza)
I liked ProStreet it was a very nice game, but it was flawed in more then 1 way, it had several annoying gfx / cinematic issues that should have been adressed before launch, but EA in all it's wisdom decided not to.
I played it on the 360 and had very little other issues where PC users did...a lot.

Heh, a typical advertising move.
I'm interested in both SHIFT and Blur, and I would be in Forza 3 - if there was a PC version. XP
But yeah, I doubt SHIFT can beat Forza 3

Re: Talk about NFS - SHIFT
Actually, it's not. I originally was going to purchase Forza 3 and possibly SHIFT. But if EA can compare their game to Forza 3 and falsely suggest that it's going to be better (as they are implying that SHIFT will be largely simulation by comparing it to Forza), there's no reason for me to buy 2 games of the same sub-genre. I'd much rather get the game from a company that has proven itself instead of one from a company that blindly tries to sell itself with these ignorant statements.
Also, keep in mind that I did include the word "considering" in my other post, so it's not like I'm completely decided yet.

lol either way I don't like that guys cocky-ness sounds terrible but I don't think that should affect the average person in their decision
