What are the best racing games ever!
Well since I am bored (and very sad), I just wanted to know what you guys think the best racing games are? You can go back to the beginning of time if you like or bang up to date. Anyone remember that Datsun 240Z game? Or maybe the new GT4 is your thing?
I have a list of my faves in my garage, but just in case you're lazy here they are:
Colin McRae Rally 2.0 - PS
Crazy Taxi - Dreamcast
Destruction Derby - PS
Fatal Racing - PC
Gran Turismo 3 - A Spec - PS2
Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge - Amiga
Metropolis Street Racer - Dreamcast
Midtown Madness - PC
Need for Speed SE, The - PC
Pitstop II - C64
Roadkill - Amiga
Test Drive - Amiga
Outrun - Arcade
Powerdrift - C64
RalliSport Challenge - Xbox
Personally I think Fatal Racing from the now defunct Gremlin Graphics is the best racing game ever. It's got destruction and stunts, what more could you want? Roadkill on the Amiga is still one of my fave games too. Incidentally FR was called Whiplash in the US, hmm I wonder why they didn't call it that here....
Post comments or just call me sad, hey I don't mind....

From those choices...PITSTOP II rules all! Still play it sometimes with Winvice C64 emulator. Actually a F1 racing but who cares...
Pure rally...I'd have to go with Mobil 1 Rally Championship (for PC, I hear the console versions were not so great). Absolute realism. Stages are the real British rally championship stages; longest ones take nearly half an hour to drive through, about 40 km (26 miles).
Richard Burns Rally is supposedly realistic too, but haven't seen that one (yet).

Hey, don't be questioning my racing game ability
Hmm Richard Burns Rally, i didn't buy that game cause i just thought it was rip off of Colin Macrea Rally.... Although I might check it out, though if it's anything like CM Rally 2005, then I won't bother....
I'm also kinda dissappointed by the fact they got rid of the driving school they had on the first CM Rally.

My racing game history:
Porsche Challenge 1998 (PS1) Wicked game on Porsche Boxters, if anyone use to play it. Work your ass off to unlock the 'black porsche' which goes faster than the others
Gran Turismo 1998 (PS1) Yes... I have been playing the Gran Turismo series since i was 9 years old, and i wasn't all that bad at it either. Won every race in the game, every endurance race etc. wow
British touring car championship 1998 (PS1) Classic game, and was the first with damage, so 50% of my time spent on the game was going backwards, smashing the crap from the cars racing the other way.
colin mcrae rally 1998 (PS1) hard game
toca 2 touring cars 1998 (PS1) hell better then the last
Gran Turismo 2 1999 (PS1) The most time I had, spent on one game- never grew bored
Toca world touring cars 2000 (PS1) Cool - engine damage
F1 2000 2000 (PS1) good
colin mcrae rally 2.0 2001 (PS1) stuffed up 3 days after i bought it (no scratches)
Gran turismo 3 2002 (PS2) To good
2002 - 2004 - many more
Need for Speed Underground 2 2004 (PS2)
Gran Turismo 4 2005 (PS2)
wow - that took a while to type

Need for Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed.
Re: What are the best racing games ever!
I think Colin McRae Rally:2005 and TOCA Race Driver 3 are the best racing games ever.
