Schumacher will retire at the end of the season

Post by 2furio »

This article pretty much sums it up:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsp ... 332630.stm

To be honest...I got a little bit emotional. I watched Schumacher race since I was a little kid and I was always rooting for him and Ferrari...even when McLaren was dominating. It's been an amazing 10 years for Ferrari...and watching F1 will never be the same for me.

The Monza race was amazing and I hope that he will win his 8th championship and retire as the best Formula 1 driver...ever...

It's sad to see him go, because he's still the best driver on the track. He's also the only reason I stay up on Sunday nights; I don't know if F1 will be interesting for me next season.

At least he's going out on a high (hopefully a very big high if he wins the championship) :D

Yeah I read that in the news...really sad to see him leave...

I really felt that he was the most mature and able driver...apart from the
other kiddy drivers...
But I guess its time for Good Byes....:(

Indeed, he was more mature than the current "noobish" F1 drivers. Hopefully, Raikonnen will be a worthy replacement...I really don't want Alonso to win another championship. Honestly, that guy always pisses me off...he's always whining and complaining...

And the best driver in the history leaves. :<

I somewhat had a laugh though when Alonso's engine went boom, especially because he went through a lot of problems. :| I hope Schumi wins this season, he deserves the World Champion title which is also going to be his last.

Well...this is not a topic to debate whether you like F1 or not...it is a topic for those who enjoy the thrill of F1 racing and who want to salute M.Schumacher...

How was it not fair? He cut Massa off. The FIA should keep a close eye on Renault. If it were up to me, I would kick the whole team out of F1 :P
...further proving my point about Renault...:P

Well I'm glad it's not up to you then . . .

Massa was about 100 metres behind Alonso, and I'm sure that Alonso wasn't trying to slow him down on purpose  As much as I don't like him, it wasn't fair. But then his car blew up anyway, so HA! :D

Yea...I was jumping on the walls when I saw him go off. After that, I was praying that Schumacher would finish the race...unlike the last time when Alonso went off...and then Schumacher a few laps later...

Well i haven't followed F1 that much since Häkkinen retired.
He retired too early :?.
Maybe i'll start following more, now that Räikkönen is going to drive a Ferrari.
Hopefully the Ferrari's that Schumi has been driving, are as reliable as the ones that Räikkönen is gonna drive :D.

I think he's choosen the right time to announce his retirment, not only has it taken an awful lot of stress off him but with 7 world championship title under his belt he did what no one else could do now he will have a clear head knowing he's got that announcment off his chest he will be able to go through the last 2 -3 races i forgot! completley focused and determined

I'm glad Raikonnen is coming to Ferrari...but honestly...I don't really like him. He has no emotion or attitude. He's always monotone and depressed when talking with the press...

Have you ever heard a finnish driver speak good english? :D
And that's how Räikkönen speaks whatever the situation, even in finnish.
Here's a clip from a finnish comedy show, where they did a skit of Tommi Mäkinen:
(Guess how many times different comedy shows have made a laugh out of Räikkönen's voice :D)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnt7ABYwQ5E

And Räikkönen doesn't have attitude?
He's in finnish newspapers almost every week with his drunken adventures :D.

It's really sad news, but on the hand he is stopping while being the best.
Which he will prove by winning this year's championship :D
