Without reducing quality? Not sure it's possible. But there are programs that can convert .MP3s to lower bitrates, reducing the size.

Well, unless you use a XiFi sound card or have amazing hearing, mp3's with bitrates of over 192 kbps are just wasting space. The human ear can't identify the difference in quality for higher bitrates than that.

prince: It also depends on hardware you play the songs with and the codecs and software you use for conversions.
I don't usually hear much difference with 128kbps and 192kbps but the differences are better heard if the song has very high or low sounds and if the conversion has been done with old codecs.

I have exceptional hearing (though, I admit, lossless is a bit overkill) and the difference between 192 and 320 kbps is pretty clear, and I try not to listen to anything under 256 kbps. As Pabl0z said, it's most noticeable when there are a lot of highs and lows (which is common in the music I listen to).

Uh, yes you can ... Anyone with good speakers and good hearing can attest to that ...

I would have difficulty, too, seeing as there's little difference. Compare 128 to 320, and you're bound to notice the difference.

And I've got a $5000 home theater sound system and a $300 pair of Sony headphones ... I can tell the difference between 192 and 320 kbps in both those cases ... Anything over 256 and I really have to listen hard to tell the difference, though ...

Now, in my car and on my computer speakers, I really can't tell in most cases if it's 128 kbps or higher; in the car because of noise (engine, road, wind, etc.) and on my computer speakers because they are fairly low-end (Logitech Z3) ... There are still some cases where I can tell it's 128 kbps, but those are few and far between for the most part.
