Is your game a real copy or an illegal one / downloaded one?

Try installing it again. If it still doesn't work, change for a new copy, since a real retailed copy comes with a warranty should something goes wrong.

Is that the only option?

Pretty much.

When you try agian, just make sure that you have enough space on your hard drive, and close all other programs that are running.

Or, just wait for a really long time (when installing) and it might continue after a while.

I waited for like 20 minutes... Also i noticed that the LED on my cd drive lights up when it's reading, and it goes off when it hits 53%.

That means the CD is corrupted. Go change for a new one.

Thanks for the help. I was just wondering how it could be corrupted. The disc used to work, and the bottom is spotless / scratchless.

Well, it could be because of internal data corruption too. When a CD is corrupted, it doesn't necessarily have to be physically scratched or seen... It could be internally as well. ;)

Don't change it, I had the same problem. Do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Right-click on the Local Disk C and choose Open.
Right-click inside the window and select New, and then Folder.
Name the folder Disk Images it is important that the name has a space in it.
Double-Click the new Disk Images folder to open it.
Right-click inside the window and select New, and then Folder.
Name this folder Disk1.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 while substituting Disk1 for Disk2 it is important to note there must not be a space between "Disk" and the number.
Insert Disk 1 of Need for Speed: Underground 2 into your CD-Rom drive and if the autoplay starts, cancel it.
Double-click My Computer to open it.
Right-click on your CD-ROM drive and choose Open.
When you see the contents of the disk in the Window, click on Edit at the top of the window and choose Select All.
All the contents of the disk should now be highlighted, click on Edit at the top of the window again and choose Copy.
Open the Disk1 folder you created under C:\Disk Images; click on Edit at the top of the window and choose Paste. This will copy the contents of the CD into the Disk1 folder.
Repeat steps 9 through 14 for the remaining disks until you have copied each disk into its appropriate folder.
Once all the disks have been copied, remove ALL CDs from any drives.
Open the Disk1 folder under Disk Images and double-click on autorun.exe to start the installation.
To save disk space, you can delete the Disk Images folders after the installation has completed.

That's from EA's web site...

Hmm. I'll try that SuperRacer. I've already made an image of the disc before to see if that would work but i mounted it and it too stopped at 53%.
