New Monitor
Hey guys;
I havn't posted on here in a while and i doubt anyone remembers me, but i have a $300 budget for a new monitor and i was wondering what you guys think would be a good buy.
I found some 22" widescreen monitors on newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com but i know absolutely nothing about monitors (Contrast Ratio/Response Time/Display type is all gibberish to me)
any input or recommendations would help me out a lot.
btw right now i have a 16" Xerox lcd and it works well, but my dad needs a new monitor for work so he is buying me a new one and giving ours to one of his employees.
thanks in advance.

edit: by the way, new site display is kick ass!

Re: New Monitor
A $300 budget will get you an entry level 22" wide lcd, no matter who the manufacturer is. That is to say, it won't be the fastest or brightest or the most colorful, but it will allow a resolution of 1680x1050, which isn't bad at all.

Re: New Monitor
I was about to suggest the same thing.
Yes that Samsung is the best out there.

Re: New Monitor
TN panels suck ... Pick up a used Apple Cinema Display (Aluminum chassis) which uses a far, far, far, far superior S-IPS panel ...

Note that you'll need a decent Videocard to get a monitor that big....underoath285 wrote: any more suggestions?

Who found out you can get milk from a cow, and what the hell was he doing at the moment?

Re: New Monitor
The reason there are no more suggestions is because for the money the Samsung 226BW is the best option available, so recommending other, lesser monitors is a waste of time.underoath285 wrote:no more suggestions?

That's why no one else is saying anything more, oh, and I use and love my 226BW everyday, heck even loved using it for my 360 so I could do HD for a while and it was very good... that was until I got my LA32R81BDX, but that's another different story since it's a tv.
If you're after a multi-purpose display, the 226BW is just what you need, heck I'm planning on buying a second one after I get back to work which involves getting over this crappy pneumonia on my left lung.
There's proper input for you, feel better now?
Re: New Monitor
Well, I already chimed in, but I disagree that the 226BW is the best option available for the price. Maybe the best NEW monitor available in its price range, but there are tons of better options if you're willing to buy used (i.e. Apple Cinema Displays, Dell Ultrasharp monitors, NEC's S-IPS based monitors, Sony MFM-HT205, Viewsonic VX2025wm, etc.)
