Has anyone else heard the news of Ageia Physx can be put on the 8-series nvidia cards through the download of a software pack. It hasn't come out yet but that means you don't need a separate card for physics if you wanted to use that feature in the newer games that are out and coming out.

There are also other differences that you notice while actually playing the game like water quality and texture maps are better in DX 10 ... I don't think most people would be disappointed with the way Crysis looks in DX 9, though. By far the best looking game in either engine ...Stereo wrote:And if you look at comparison shots in Crysis with DX9 and DX10, you really won't notice a difference except maybe a LITTLE bit nicer trees and sun.

Yep heard about it, and it's great news.weedman173 wrote:Has anyone else heard the news of Ageia Physx can be put on the 8-series nvidia cards through the download of a software pack. Yeah it is... probably won't really affect my computer much though, if I can ever get the damned thing working... the Quad Core should be more than enough to handle physics, along with anything else a program throws at it...

Would this is a decent enough upgrade from a BFG 6200 overclocked if i want to most early 2008 games late 2007 games?

That's no improvement at all from your current card, it's basically a X300 with added stuff.
Here are some good cards for under 100$:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814140089 (<-- Best option)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814122023
But don't think you can play games very well on these cards if you want something more powerful you have to have at least 100$:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814131088
And the best option:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130334
Though the HD3850 is good as well.

Not with 1280x1024 and AA. Crysis with this card has to be on medium-low and 1024x768 and still have small performance issues. Call of duty 4, it can run it at 1280x1024 all max but with maybe 2xAA and no Multisampling or Supersampling enabled (the HD3850 barely does 1280x1024 4xAA without dipping below 30FPS in some situations).S2000_Skyline12 wrote:Dude...the 8600GT does a awesome job at gaming.

HD 3850 might be the best choice out of all of the AGP Cards, ( GUESSED ). Donald just buy a new pc if you got the money AGP is so crap now lol.

Then I must be retarded cause i'm doing pretty nicely with CoD4 at 1280 with 2xAA. And as for Crysis. That's a benchmark for HIGH-end cards. Not a lot of cards can play it at high and still have good performance (88xxGT/GTS G92/GTX/Ultra)

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Well i did say it can do 2xAA so basically you are proving my point, but anything higher will slow down a lot i am sure as i have a friend with a smillar card (8600GT with a tiny overclock 20MHz on both core and memory) and he barely can play with 4xAA (he does get 50FPS Avg. and 25 min.) and activating 8xAA will slow it down to 30 avg.S2000_Skyline12 wrote:BrontoX wrote:Not with 1280x1024 and AA. ZOMG!!!1!!! 20MHz FROM 540MHz STOCK!!1!!1! :/ I'm at 635MHz/803MHz and working greatly. And I wasn't trying to prove your point. I was talking about overall gaming and using that as an example. But since you took it like that, I can play BioShock med-high/1280/2xAA and get decent gameplay.

You seem to think that i am saying that the 8600GT is a very bad card but in fact i am saying that the 8600GT is not as good as others.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Just my two cents:
Dude, my freakin' 7600GT can play most games at 1280x1024 4xAA and everything maxxed... (granted, I have that $350 overclocked CPU,) but still... give the card a little more credit. Crysis is one of the most graphically intensive games out for the PC, if not the most.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
hello guys.
i am upgrading my machine to the following-
a core 2 duo 2.2ghz
1 gb ram @ 667 ghx
a geforce 8400
160bg hdd
a new motherboard that supprots the above(i dont know the model sorry)
now is this a good thing to upgrade to?
will this run pros and the future games nice and good.
i expect to run pros with everything on hihgest except the res. and aa settings. will this do so?
(i cant upgrade to anything more so comment on the current upgrades)
a geforce 8400 (after chechking tis on the nvidia site i think its a pretty good deal considering the money i.e. areound 40$ odd and the features you get i.e. shader model 4 and the dx10 support althoght not very comfortable with it)what do u think, will it justify prostreet and the future games?
i have also seen people stating that they could run games very nicely at the high settings even on a 7600 geforce.
mine is still a newer one the 8400.
what is your opinion?
thnx

8400GS or GT is not good in any aspect. If you get it, don't plan to do much gaming.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
You don't even really need an 8 series that low on the food chain, since it's probably not going to be able to run most DX10 games. At the very least, you'll probably want a 7600GT. It's still an awesome card, just so long as you have a good CPU to make up for a slight lack of power when it comes out to trying to max out newer games. You should be able to get med-high at 1280x1024 resolutions, (depending on the game... don't plan on getting Crysis that high.)
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Which do you suggest to buy for gaming:
- Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT -

- Powercolor Radeon HD 3870

Here is a comparison:
http://hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQ ... RodXNpYXN0
As you can see you better go for the 9600GT it beats the 3870, and i also have the 9600 from Gainward and i can get the overclock to up to 750MHz on core, 2020Mhz on the memory and even on STOCK i can play on very high at 1024x768 in crysis which is very impressive by my standards.

I'd get the 512mb 8800 GT,imo its abit more extra than a 9600 GT and its better.
ZOMG, the 9800 GX2 is out xD, 50% faster than a 8800 ULTRA Z0mg
