Live For Speed Racing Simulator

Post by ahmad0410 »

This gotta be the greatest online simulator to date IMO. You can do anything you can do with a real car. Its a simulator, duh! You can even drift offline or online using the real drifting technique. You can try the demo with 3 car and a track. Its definately worth buying.

LFS S2 is a serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving. It is therefore highly recommended to drive the sim with a steering wheel, because even though you can use keyboard and/or mouse, a wheel is what you use in a real car, so a wheel should be used in a serious racing simulator. Especially when going online, where fast reactions are required.

In S2 you can race alone or against the AI, but the real fun is to be found online, in multiplayer mode. Racing against real people is simply the best thing and LFS makes it easy for you to do so. There are also several online racing leagues you can take part in, if you are looking for something with a more competitive edge.

A serious simulator obviously requires a very good physics simulation to provide the thrill and fun of real racing. This is done by simulating all aspects that are important to racing. LFS S2 is the second step towards our vision of what the sim must become and already does a very good job in simulating real racing. Many racing aspects are covered - comprehensive setup possibilities, fuel usage, tyre wear, a lot of different surface types, intriguing racing environments, different car classes, etc. All these aspects make sure you have enough to practise with and spend time on learning the flow of the tracks. Additionally, don't forget to plan your pitstops - find out how much fuel your car uses on a track and how are your tyres behaving on any track, with your driving style. All aspects you will have to think about in real racing and as such you need to think about them in S2 as well.

S2 is a significant improvement over S1; important features have been added. For example dynamic camber (improved simulation of suspension and different suspension types), highly detailed tyre physics and a damage model have been introduced. Also the additional content in S2 should be noted - where S1 mostly contains the 'medium' fast cars and tracks, S2 introduces several 'fast' classes (and 'slow').

So where can I get S2?
You can download S2 ALPHA from our download page
This download will initially act as an S2 demo, allowing access to 3 cars and 1 track environment only. If you want to access all the other content, a license must be bought. Please see the 'Read Before You Buy' and 'Buy Online' pages for more information on licenses.

i have tried this.. and didnt like it one bit..
it was impossible to drive the cars, even when using a wheel

i can drive perfectly fine (even without assists) in games such as GTR2 or rFactor
but i did nothing but spinning in LFS :?

Spinning? You mean using the XRT? It happened to me when I used the keyboard but its okay when I use my laptop touchpad. Its all about the skills. =]

I used to hate the game because of mouse steering, but now I got it down and can drift really good. It has some good tuning but not to the point that you'd need to know a lot about cars to tune them in the game.

Yeah it's a fun game with friends.
Played it (demo) a bit with a few friends online about 3 years ago.
But playing solo it's a bit boring.
Dunno if the full version is better then...

You guys should try this game seriously. Currently with patch X. Currently in stage 2 of development. By the end of this year you can expect Stage 3 with better physics, cars and graphics. =D And drift lovers SHOULD try this!

I find it harder to control a car in this game than in real life.

Haa.. maybe its difficult coz you are not using a steering wheel? And there are different setups that need to be adjusted, if not, you can't drive properly.

I use an xbox controller and I don't really like it as your not rewarded for "cool" driving, like powersliding around corners and bashing your opponants of the track.

Still, does any one know how to set the car up to drift?

maybe because in real life you don't drive a 400+ horsepower car and you don't race at high speeds with it.

Damn i think that is one of the most realistic handling games although the car has very little grip ..like youre driving on ice..but i drived few days, got used to it..Now im a hardcore drifter there 8) i play online and its awesome! drift with youre friends and racing..and you can setup youre car to fit the style youre racing&drifting.
BTW i play it more than NFS:D i play NFS about 2 times a week and half hour or so..

I like Live for Speed, though I haven't really played it recently... =\

Once due to a crash, my car started flipping and crashing into the ground like crazy. XD It was hilarious.

LFS is stupid and I have NO IDEA why anybody would pay 80 bucks for it....If you don't have a steering wheel this game is useless. And to be quite frank its not very realistic at all, my R31 is MUCH easier to drive than the little Golf you start off with, and despite the golf being a FWD car it oversteers more than it understeers.... Although there is some realism in the steering wheel at least, considering the steering wheel in game does actual full turns, combine that with a Driving Force GT and you'd have some fun, but I wouldn't pay 80 bucks when Gran Turismo is sitting in the living room waiting to show this game up. Which it does very well...
