Re: Last Post Wins
What the hell is that?
Oh well, I think I'll end this with the classic:
...nuke.
(Yes, i did it, AGAIN.)
I used to have a bad habit of using explosions in the picture wars thread...

'It'? Yes, it can sing.

Now that's weird. If I was the judge...I'd do the same thing, so people wouldn't hate me, but I would be lying.GT3x24x7 wrote:PIE

Re: Last Post Wins
I was first skeptical, but when I counted, I saw it really is 1 000 000 decimals. How awesome is that?GT3x24x7 wrote:PI!!
I counted the columns (I counted to 50 and then copied both halves of the first line into notepad one under another and saw they were of matching length). Then I copied the decimals into a script editor to see how many lines there are. There were 10000 lines. So that's 100*10000=1000000. Then I copied the decimals into notepad, removed the spaces (took the find&replace feature 7 mins to do so) and saved it as a.txt. The file was 996KiB large. Close enough I guess, but I thought it should be 1MiB or over (I don't know where Windows stores the file info). Just in case you thought I was joking.

Yeah but how do you know it's not just random numbers? I mean it looks ok out to 8 decimals which is what I remember from being a supernerd in school, but beyond that who knows? Or cares!
Re: Last Post Wins
Well I guess he didn't type them. He might write some and then copy paste it 1000 times, but that's not the case because nothing with seven pieces or more repeats (or ALMOST nothing with seven pieces or more repeats). Then of course he could do the uber-hack-and-lie-and-leave-no-tracks-behind hack, but that would be just wrong.GT3x24x7 wrote:Yeah but how do you know it's not just random numbers? Re: Last Post Wins
TBH I'd guess that it is real, and that it was generated by some computer science student's uber-1337-pi-calculating-program-of-death. The calculation of pi is resonably straightforward, and it's also easy enough to insert a linebreak every x characters in program output. All that's needed is a Very Long Time for the program to run and produce the 1,000,000 decimal places.
