Yeah but how do you know it's not just random numbers? I mean it looks ok out to 8 decimals which is what I remember from being a supernerd in school, but beyond that who knows? Or cares!

Well I guess he didn't type them. He might write some and then copy paste it 1000 times, but that's not the case because nothing with seven pieces or more repeats (or ALMOST nothing with seven pieces or more repeats). Then of course he could do the uber-hack-and-lie-and-leave-no-tracks-behind hack, but that would be just wrong.

TBH I'd guess that it is real, and that it was generated by some computer science student's uber-1337-pi-calculating-program-of-death. The calculation of pi is resonably straightforward, and it's also easy enough to insert a linebreak every x characters in program output. All that's needed is a Very Long Time for the program to run and produce the 1,000,000 decimal places.
