Vp6 Playback

I'm fairly new to the forums but had a few questions on movie making. I'm familur with FRAPS and Movie Maker, have used them both many times but have been trying to figure out vp6 and how NFS2 does a playback. Was wondering if anyone knows how the playback is done. I downloaded PlayCast player that is suppose to play vp6 files but when I click on any of the movies in the NFS2 MOVIE directory the status just says "unable to connect to server". It seems the playback is stored in memorie but why it doesn't make a copy of it for later viewing? I notice everyone is using FRAPS to make vid's, which is cool but I don't see why your unable to reuse the playback's. Thanks.

get the vp6 codec from http://www.on2.com
