Star Rating
You might have noticed a little change to the voting interface in the Showroom. The old numeric votes from 1-10 that have been with us since the beginning of the Showroom in 2003 are now gone for good. Instead a new system is now in use called "Star Rating" where you can award from 1-5 stars to every entry. So the idea is simple: if you really like the entry, you award it 5 stars, if it's average than less. If you don't like it at all, then of course you don't give it any stars. Instead of reputation, the Star Rating is now displayed which shows the amount of stars the entry has received. The more stars, the better the entry is. Additionally the top lists are now a collection of cars that got the most stars in the past 3 hours. So since there is no more negative ratings, now the curse of downvoting is finally over!
The change from the old rating system to the Star Rating was done by converting ratings: 6 -> 1 star, 7 -> 2 stars, 8 ->3 stars, 9-> 4 stars and 10 -> 5 stars.
To give you idea how many stars your cars need to have to be considered exceptional, let's take a look on the star ratings of the best entries in the Showroom. The best entry in the showroom has a star rating of 754. Following closely is another entry from the Carbon showroom with 538 stars. Top Most Wanted entry has 453 stars (overall third place), top Underground2 entry has 328 stars and the top ProStreet entry 308 stars. I'll leave it up to you to actually find these cars.
If we take a look at the sum ups for all the games, we have Carbon on first place with 236910 stars, NFSU2 is second with 137413 stars, Most Wanted third with 113951 stars, ProStreet quickly catching up with 81431 and Need for Speed Underground last with only 13545 stars.
With ProStreet having large visual styling opportunities, the return of SRChallenge and the new rating system we hope the Showroom will return to it's former glory!
Race Days
As you know, the r3ACT: Tanuki Challenge is already done, there's no currently running race day, we hope to announce a new one soon enough, stand by.
In the News
News are already around when you need them and this week "they" didn't let us down. So, relax a bit and start reading, because we have 2 special news.
First of all, if you are a PlayStation3 ProStreet player, you'd might want to read this. EA has released the Energizer Lithium Extender Pack for you guys. It contains 2 new tracks and 2 new cars. Rush up to the playstation network, to set hands on the pack. Xbox 360 version are expected to come on EA's "mid-february".
Xbox 360 users can now download the blueprints made from the guys off car magazines on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Featuring Nissan S13, Nissan GT-R, Mazda RX7, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
Last week we wrote something about some exclusive interviews about "Birth of Need for Speed: ProStreet". We had Hubinette with his 700HP Charger talking. This time around, we have Kousuke Kida, which is an All Japan HKS drag racing winner. You're right, his car do drags, time attack and drift. In the next Movie you'll see him drifting, showing off his 2.8L 650HP Nissan Skyline GTR.
Two weeks ago we were mentioning about a new session of Showroom Challenge. Now we are proud to present it's opening, yes, the r3ACT Challenge. If you know how to work with color/vinyls, do your best and create something that deserves to stand in front, prizes follow as well, a r3ACT t-shirt will be given to the winner. The rules are simple, any car is allowed, but a Nissan Silvia S15 would be proper since it represents r3ACT racing org. Photos must be made in garage, no editing whatsoever, photos in race time are also permited but not as a main image. If you need more details, go to the competitions page: r3AcT Challenge. Good Luck to the contestants!

Racing M3 GTR's 5Zigen Subaru Impreza

Improving, we like that, still we're not 100% satisfied with what we see. There are lot of great cars, but they share a presentation and one of SRW rules is that we can't choose pres'ed cars. You can upload the same car twice, one with an artistic presentation, the other one simple, a photo from your garage, or in race time, that if you want to make it in our weeklies. Good Luck!
Creativity Competitions
Yes, they continue, the last competitions are over, although, only 1 has determined it's winner, we're talking about the "Favorite drink signature competition", so we proudly congratulate Jopuma for his Sprite signature:
.
Next up, in the signature competitions, we have a more interesting theme, "Paper Sigs".
The Chop Competition's winner have also recently been announced. Congratulations to Jopuma for winning the competition!
The Star Rating system is all good for me... At last, no more downvoters! People have been complaining about it for ages, me included... I forget who suggested it, but thanks for the idea.

About time that the Voting System was changed. I was getting sick of that downvoter anyway. He's probably the one that tried to bring my score on the Ford Mustang GTR down. Post comment
