Again, seems like IGN got their hands on the final PC version of NFSMW, reviewing it in 3 pages, and rating it with only 8.5 in opposition to NFSU2 which got a 9.1.
Most Wanted is also a long game. It's packed. Each of the 15 racers requires anywhere from seven to 10 races before you race them, and those boss competitions are usually two races. That's easily 15-plus hours just to beat the career mode. And that doesn't include the dozens of cop chases, additional milestones or free-roam races you can pick up at any time. It doesn't include the challenge mode or the online play either.
Detailed ratings:
Presentation: Stylish and different. Who would have thought FMV could be cool? Not I. Kudos to EA Canada. ----- (9.0)
Graphics: Good particles, great car models, and sleek designs. The PS2 fares worse than all the other versions. Oh, and Josie Maran never gets old to look at. ----- (8.0)
Sound: Kick-ass cop chatter and engine sound effects. And Josie Maran sounds as sexy as she looks. Yet another worthless EA soundtrack, however. ----- (8.0)
Gameplay: Good sense of speed, impeccable car roster, and a different feel to the cars. Erudite mission and course design. ----- (8.0)
Lasting Appeal: Fifteen-plus hours for the single-player career mode, not counting tons of incidentals, online or other modes. Very healthy replay value, indeed. Did I mention Josie Maran? ----- (8.5)
Overall: 8.5
